For the development of new functional materials for various applications, such as drug or gene delivery and environmental remediation, the relationship between function and morphology has been considered an important aspect for controlling affinity to the targets. However, there are only a few reports on this relationship because the molecular strategy for the precise control of vesicle shape has been restricted. Herein, we report the photocontrol of vesicle shape using azobenzene-containing amphiphilic switches.

Background: We were interested to test whether regional amyloid as measured with Florbetaben could be detected in fMRI activation patterns recorded 5 years prior.
Method: Perceptual Speed was probed with 3 cognitive fMRI tasks (Digit Symbol Substitution, Letter Comparison, Pattern Comparison) for 324 participants, aged 20 to 80, at timepoint 1. A subsample of 63 participants (aged 51-80) underwent Florbetaben amyloid scans 5 years later ( = timepoint 2), resulting in SUVR values in 68 regions of the FreeSurfer DK atlas.

Background: Autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP) dysfunction emerges early in Alzheimer's disease(AD). In mouse AD models, lysosomal acidification deficits impair ALP in neurons, in some inducing massive autolysosome accumulations, intraneuronal amyloid plaque, and early neuronal death yielding an extracellular amyloid plaque. This distinctive neurodegenerative pattern (PANTHOS) emerges in early-stage AD and is recapitulated in human late-onset AD (accompanying poster).

Background: Efforts to genetically reverse C9orf72 pathology have been hampered by our incomplete understanding of the regulation of this complex locus.
Method: We generated five different genomic excisions at the C9orf72 locus in a patient-derived iPSC line and a WT line (11 total isogenic lines), and examined gene expression and pathological hallmarks of C9 FTD/ALS in motor neurons differentiated from these lines. Comparing the excisions in these isogenic series removed the confounding effects of different genomic backgrounds and allowed us to probe the effects of specific genomic changes.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma is the most common form of lung cancer and one of the most life-threatening malignant tumors. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulatory cell death pathway that is crucial for tumor growth. SNX30 is a key regulatory factor in cardiac development; however, its regulatory mechanism and role in inducing ferroptosis in lung adenocarcinoma remain unclear.
