The increasing number of inexperienced graduates, as well as other levels of nurse such as the enrolled nurse and assistant-in-nursing, requires health service and nursing managers in the acute care sector to rethink the long-preferred "patient allocation" model of care provision. As well, the escalating shortage of registered nurses and subsequent low morale among those remaining in the workforce require hospitals to re-examine skills mix and staffing ratios. This paper presents the results of two work-sampling studies conducted in a major metropolitan private hospital, the first of which was to provide a rationale for changing from the patient allocation model to a team model of care. The second study aimed to evaluate and provide data on the impact of the change. Staff were heavily involved in both studies as well as the change process. The findings highlight how effective the new model has been in redistributing certain aspects of care to make better use of each nurse level's knowledge and skills.

Purpose: Understanding barriers to compliance can aid in mitigation strategies to address them. This study aims to quantitatively and qualitatively assess the relationship between barriers to ERAS recommendations and perceived ability to assure compliance among multidisciplinary team (MDT) members who deliver Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) care.
Design: Embedded mixed-methods survey analysis.
Introduction: In hospital-based emergency departments, the national average of left before treatment complete was 2%. In addition, patients may leave without being seen or against medical advice and elope after arriving to the emergency department. When events occurred, they were associated with an increased length of stay for patients who were admitted to the hospital and decreased patient satisfaction.

Ongoing challenges in the provision of care, driven by growing care complexity and nursing shortages, prompt us to reconsider the basis for efficient division of nursing labour. In organising nursing work, traditionally the focus has been on identifying nursing tasks that can be delegated to other less expensive and less highly educated staff, in order to make best use of scarce resources. Objective: Effective communication is essential in delivering high-quality patient care, and in recent years, resident education has expanded to focus on nontechnical skills and communication training. The "Everything DiSC" model is a communication inventory tool used to help employers and employees gain insight into how an individual may communicate within a team and how others may perceive similarities and differences in communication styles, comprising of Dominance (D), Influence (i), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C). In this report, we describe our experience mapping the DiSC model to the Kern 6-step framework for curriculum development and summarize residents' feedback several years following its implementation.
