Aim: To synthesize and study the antithrombotic activity of NO-donating aspirin derivatives.

Methods: Furoxans and nitrates were incorporated to aspirin via antioxidant ferulic acid as a linker, and the target compounds were screened for in vitro and in vivo inhibitory activities of platelet aggregation, and for inhibitory effect on A-V hypass thromhosis in rats.

Results: Fourteen novel compounds I(1-14), were synthesized and their structures were confirmed Iy MS, IR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis. Biological screening results demonstrated that some tested compounds exhibited potential antithrombotic activ it.

Conclusion: Acetylsalicyl ferulic acid-coupling furoxans and nitrates might he used as a lead for further study.

Blood-contacting medical devices can easily trigger immune responses, leading to thrombosis and hyperblastosis. Constructing microtexture that provides efficient antithrombotic and rapid reendothelialization performance on complex curved surfaces remains a pressing challenge. In this work, we present a robust and regular micronano binary texture on the titanium surface, characterized by exceptional mechanical strength and precisely controlled wettability to achieve excellent hemocompatibility.

Background: COVID-19 is associated with intense systemic inflammation and abnormal coagulation profile leading to an increased incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE). This study investigates whether PE in COVID-19 patients has different clinical, laboratory and radiological characteristics when compared to traditional PE in COVID negative patients.

Methods: We conducted an observational, multicentric, cross-sectional study on consecutive patients diagnosed with PE at admission or during hospital stay from February 21 2019 to February 20 2021.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia, linked with a significantly heightened risk of stroke. While moderate exercise reduces AF risk, high-level endurance athletes paradoxically exhibit a higher incidence. However, their stroke risk remains uncertain due to their younger age, higher cardiovascular fitness, and lower rate of comorbidities.

Dietary polysaccharides, recognised as significant natural bioactive compounds, have demonstrated promising potential for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD). This review provides an overview of the biological properties and classification of polysaccharides, with particular emphasis on their extraction and purification methods. The paper then explores the diverse mechanisms by which polysaccharides exert their effects in CVD, including their antioxidant activity, protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury, anti-apoptotic properties, protection against diabetic cardiomyopathy, anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects, prevention of ventricular remodeling, and protection against vascular injury.
