To address the problem of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in severe mental illness, the Trauma Recovery Group, a mixed gender cognitive-behavioral program, was developed and piloted at a community mental health center. The 21-week program includes breathing retraining, education about PTSD, cognitive restructuring, coping with symptoms, and making a recovery plan. Eighty clients were assessed at baseline and 41 provided follow-up data. Retention in the group was good: 59%. Treatment completers improved significantly in PTSD symptoms and diagnosis, depression, and post-traumatic cognitions, but dropouts did not. The results support the feasibility of the program and suggest it produces clinical benefits.

Nimodipine (NIMO) is used to treat ischemic nerve injury from subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), but its low aqueous solubility limits clinical safety and bioavailability. This study aims to improve NIMO's solubility by preparing inclusion complexes with sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin (SBE-β-CD), reducing the limitations of Nimotop injection, including vascular irritation, toxicity, and poor dilution stability. The NIMO-SBE-β-CD inclusion complex (NIMO-CD) was characterized in both liquid and solid states through phase solubility studies and methods including DSC, FT-IR, XRD, and SEM.

Skin grafting techniques are widely used for large burns, trauma, and various acute and chronic wounds, contributing greatly to the repair of traumatic tissue. However, donor site repair and regeneration are often neglected, resulting in infection and delayed healing. Therefore, it is crucial to reduce the rate of donor site infection and improve the speed and quality of healing.

Electronic address:

Severe traumatic bleeding and chronic diabetic wounds require rapid hemostasis and multifunctional dressings, which remain particularly challenging, especially for non-compressible trauma and irregular wounds with dysregulated microenvironments. Chitosan (CS) can be easily cross-linked with genipin to form GpCS hydrogels. However, developing injectable GpCS hydrogels for biomedical applications faces challenges, particularly in enhancing rapid gel formation and optimizing physical properties.

Electronic address:

Quantifying axons and myelin is essential for understanding spinal cord injury (SCI) mechanisms and developing targeted therapies. This study proposes and validates an automated method to measure axons and myelin, applied to compare contusion, dislocation, and distraction SCIs in a rat model. Spinal cords were processed and stained for neurofilament, tubulin, and myelin basic protein, with histology images segmented into dorsal, lateral, and ventral white matter regions.

The Cognitive and Linguistic Scale (CALS) was developed to serially monitor cognitive recovery of children and young people after severe acquired brain injury (ABI), during inpatient rehabilitation. The CALS can be used to derive Cognitive Ability Estimates (CAE) which are Rasch-propertied (unidimensional, interval-scale) and therefore may be ideally applied for use in research including within the context of clinical trials. Here, we used established statistical distribution-based and expert consensus-based methods to estimate the Minimal Clinically Important Difference (MCID) for CAE derived from the CALS.
