Background: Due to the complex embryologic development, pancreatic anatomy can be very variable.
Discussion: The authors present the second ever reported case in the literature of a complete pancreatic encasement of the portal vein which forced us to alter the standard operative procedure of pancreatic head resection, thus enabling possible dangerous complications.

Nesfatin-1 is a crucial regulator of energy homeostasis in mammals and fishes, however, its metabolic role remains completely unexplored in amphibians, reptiles, and birds. Therefore, present study elucidates role of nesfatin-1 in glucose homeostasis in wall lizard wherein fasting stimulated hepatic nucb2/nesfatin-1, glycogen phosphorylase (glyp), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (pepck), and fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase (fbp), while feeding upregulated pancreatic nucb2/nesfatin-1 and insulin, suggesting towards tissue-specific dual role of nesfatin-1 in glucoregulation. The glycogenolytic/gluconeogenic role of nesfatin-1 was further confirmed by an increase in media glucose levels along with heightened hepatic pepck and fbp expression and concomitant decline in liver glycogen content in nesfatin-1-treated liver of wall lizard.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune chronic disorder that damages beta cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans and results in hyperglycemia due to the loss of insulin. Exogenous insulin therapy can save lives but does not stop disease progression. Thus, an effective therapy may require beta cell restoration and suppression of the autoimmune response.

The surgical management of hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer may range from segmental resections to major or extended hepatectomies. The aim is to achieve complete removal of metastatic lesions while preserving adequate liver function. We present the case of a 42-year-old male patient with a history of glucose intolerance who presented with altered bowel movements and abdominal pain.

Background: There is ongoing debate surrounding the optimal therapeutic strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients achieving complete response (CR) after conversion therapy. This meta-analysis compares the prognostic outcomes of non-surgery strategies with hepatectomy.
Methods: The systematic searches were conducted up to April 11, 2024, across PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, analyzing progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma (PASC) is a rare subtype of pancreatic cancer (PC), with no established consensus on the optimal treatment for postoperative liver metastasis recurrence. We report a case of a 48-year-old male patient who underwent radical surgery and was pathologically diagnosed with microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) PASC. The patient experienced liver metastasis recurrence following single-agent gemcitabine adjuvant chemotherapy.
