The paper presents the results of a computed tomographic study of extraocular muscles (EOM) in 75 patients (131 orbits) without orbital pathology and different forms of endocrine ophthalmopathology. It also gives data on changes in EOM density and structure. The outline of the muscles has been studied at different stages of edematous exophthalmos and endocrine myopathy. The obtained quantitative results of EOM changes allow one to make a differential diagnosis of different forms of endocrine ophthalmopathy and to plan treatment of these patients.

Background/purpose: Immunotherapies, such as CAR-T, have revolutionized cancer treatment for some cancers. However, these treatments often require active participation of a family member or friend to act as a caregiver at home for several weeks after infusion. Given the novelty of CAR-T, there is a need to better understand the experience of patients receiving these treatments and their caregivers.

Hypophosphatemic rickets is a rare bone disease characterized by short stature, bone deformities, impaired bone mineralization, and dental problems. Most commonly, hypophosphatemic rickets is caused by pathogenic variants in the X-chromosomal gene, but autosomal dominant and recessive forms also exist. We investigated a Finnish family in which the son (index, 29 yr) and mother (56 yr) had hypophosphatemia since childhood.

Sulfonylureas (SU) are commonly prescribed as oral hypoglycemic agents for the management of diabetes mellitus (DM). We postulated that SU possess antimicrobial properties due to their structural resemblance to the antimicrobial agent sulfamethoxazole. Using data from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database, we enrolled patients diagnosed with DM between 2000 and 2013 and followed them for a three-year period.
