Background: Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is used for the diagnosis and monitoring of asthma, although its utility to guide treatment and its correlation with other tools is still under discussion. We study the possibility to withdraw inhaled corticosteroid treatment in atopic patients with mild asthma based on the FeNO level, as well as to study its correlation with other clinical control tools.
Methods: Prospective and randomized study including atopic patients aged 18 to 65 with mild asthma, stable, on low-dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) treatment, who had their treatment withdrawn based on a FeNO level of 40 ppb.

The infralimbic cortex (IL) is part of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), exerting top-down control over structures that are critically involved in the development of alcohol use disorder (AUD). Activity of the IL is tightly controlled by γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transmission, which is susceptible to chronic alcohol exposure and withdrawal. This inhibitory control is regulated by various neuromodulators, including 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT; serotonin).

Background: Inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) therapy has been demonstrated to reduce the risk of COPD exacerbations. It should only be prescribed to COPD patients who are not adequately controlled by dual long-acting bronchodilator therapy and who have ≥2 exacerbations per year and a blood eosinophil count ≥300cells/µL. ICS therapy is widely prescribed outside guidelines to COPD patients, making ICS withdrawal an important consideration.

Lavender, an aromatic plant with a history dating back to ancient Egypt and Greece, is consumed because of its diverse pharmacological properties, including sedation, sleep aid, and antidepressant effects. However, the mechanisms underlying these antidepressant properties remain unclear. In this study, we explored the impact of lavender essential oil (LEO) inhalation on the diversity of gut microbiota, metabolites, and differential gene expression in the hippocampus of alcohol-withdrawn depressive rats.
