Three-dimensional (3D) virtual planning of orthognathic surgery requires detailed visualization of the interocclusal relationship. The purpose of this study was to introduce the modification of the double computed tomography (CT) scan procedure using a newly designed 3D splint in order to obtain a detailed anatomic 3D virtual augmented model of the skull. A total of 10 dry adult human cadaver skulls were used to evaluate the accuracy of the automatic rigid registration method for fusion of both CT datasets (Maxilim, version 1.3.0). The overall mean registration error was 0.1355+/-0.0323 mm (range 0.0760-0.1782 mm). Analysis of variance showed a registration method error of 0.0564 mm (P < 0.001; 95% confidence interval = 0.0491-0.0622). The combination of the newly designed 3D splint with the double CT scan procedure allowed accurate registration and the set-up of an accurate anatomic 3D virtual augmented model of the skull with detailed dental surface.

Background: For restorative demands, increased vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) is sometimes necessary, as facial changes can be perceptible.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the perception of facial change due to increased VDO and associated soft tissue changes using 3D-scanned facial images.
Methods: Forty participants with healthy dentition and no loss of VDO were recruited.

Introduction: Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is common with viral encephalitis in children which is associated with complications and prognosis. The optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) is a new indicator for the assessment of intracranial pressure using ultrasound, CT scan and MRI imaging. Given the influence of physical development on ONSD size in children, we expect more accurate assessment of intracranial pressure with ONSD/ETD (eyeball transverse diameter) ratio by ultrasound.

We present a case of an 80-year-old female who presented with chest pain, vomiting and night sweats a few weeks post thoracic endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (TEVAR). A computed tomography (CT) scan demonstrated a type 1B endoleak for which she underwent a repeat TEVAR. Postoperatively, she developed fever, dysphagia, haematemesis and melaena.

Introduction: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is a severe complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) after endovascular treatment (EVT). We hypothesize that asymmetry of the internal cerebral veins (ICVs) on baseline CT angiogram (CTA) may serve as an adjunctive predictor of HT.
Methods: We conducted a study on consecutive AIS-LVO patients from November 2020 to April 2022.

Background And Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the correlation between Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) levels and Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) metabolic parameters, including spleen and bone marrow FDG uptake and tumor heterogeneity in non-luminal breast cancers (NLBC), and to elucidate their association with survival outcomes.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 100 females with stage 2-4 NLBC who underwent pretreatment F-FDG Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT). TIL was scored based on Hematoxylin-Eosin-stained specimens and F-FDG PET metabolic parameters, including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), liver, spleen, and bone marrow FDG uptake were calculated.
