Unlabelled: Nutrition is an important variable which may affect the risk for renal disease. We previously showed that a high fructose diet in mice produced hypertension and sympathetic activation [8]. The purpose of this study was to determine if a fructose diet altered renal function. There was a positive correlation between mean arterial pressure (r=0.7, p=0.01), blood pressure variability (BPV) (r=0.7, p=0.02), low frequency BPV component (r=0.677, p=0.03) and urinary protein excretion. Results show that consumption of a high fructose diet in mice had deleterious effects on renal function, which were correlated with cardiovascular changes.

Background/objective: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is characterized by abdominal obesity, increased blood pressure (BP), fasting blood glucose (FBG) and triglyceride levels, and reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of the Wharton's jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJMSCs)-derived small extracellular vesicles' (sEVs) preparations in managing MetS.
Method: Twenty-four rats were fed with a high-fat and high-fructose diet to induce MetS for 16 weeks and randomized into three groups ( = 8/group): a MetS Control group treated with normal saline, MetS Low Dose (LD) group treated with a LD of sEVs preparations (3 × 10 particle/rat), and MetS High Dose (HD) group treated with a HD of sEVs preparations (9 × 10 particles/rat).

Background: Cirrhosis is a medical condition marked by persistent liver damage, which leads to the development of fibrous tissue and compromised liver function. In the present study, we decided to investigate the possibility of a connection between the consumption of fermentable olig-, di-, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAPs) and mortality rates in cirrhotic patients by utilizing data obtained from a prospective cohort study.
Methods: This cohort study enrolled 166 ambulatory patients from two hospitals in Tehran, Iran, between 2016 and 2018, and followed them up for 5 48 months until April 30, 2022.
