Dermoscopy is a non-invasive, in vivo technique that allows the visualization of subsurface skin structures in the epidermis, at the dermoepidermal junction, and in the upper dermis. Dermoscopy brought a new dimension in evaluating melanocytic skin neoplasms (MSN) also representing a link between clinical and pathologic examination of any MSN. However, histopathology remains the gold standard in diagnosing MSN.

Background: Pigmented purpuric dermatosis (PPD) is known as a chronic recurrent eruption which usually presents with petechiae and pigmented macules on the lower extremities. Dermoscopy is a noninvasive diagnostic tool in identifying pigmented and vascular lesions, which can also be beneficial in the evaluation of PPD.
Objective: We aimed to analyze the common dermoscopic characteristics of PPD, and correlate those findings with the histopathologic features.

Pagetoid reticulosis (PR), also known as Woringer-Kolopp disease, is a rare variant of mycosis fungoides with distinctive clinicopathologic features. It clinically manifests as a solitary, erythematous, gradually enlarging, scaly, or verrucous plaque on the lower extremities, and due to its indolent course and nonspecific clinical features, may remain undiagnosed for years. In the current study, we describe the clinical and dermoscopic characteristics of a rare case of PR disease and correlate them with the corresponding histopathologic findings.

The increasing use of dermoscopy in preoperative diagnosis of melanocytic skin neoplasms is impacting on routine histopathology to a relevant extent. We herein present the dermoscopic-pathologic features of 6 cases of histopathologically controversial melanocytic skin neoplasms. By illustrating these cases, we emphasize at least 3 different fields of interest for a combined (clinico-)dermoscopic-pathologic diagnostic approach, namely, information about the evolution of lesions; detection of gross sampling errors; definition of peculiar clinicopathologic entities.

Background: In recent years, several histopathologic variants of blue nevus have been identified, whose clinical and dermoscopic correlates need further clarification.
Methods: A comparative evaluation of histopathologic and dermoscopic features was carried out on 52 melanocytic proliferations belonging to the morphologic spectrum of blue nevus.
Results: On dermoscopy, all lesions showed a homogeneous, structureless pigment pattern, with a curious variety of colors (blue, white-blue, black, brown, and polychromatic).
