Glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GARFT) is an important enzyme in the folate metabolism pathway, and chemical drugs targeting GARFT have been used in tumor treatments over the past few decades. The development of novel antimetabolism drugs that target GARFT with improved performance and superior activity remains an attractive strategy. Herein, we proposed a targeted double-template molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for enhancing macrophage phagocytosis and synergistic antimetabolic therapy.

Ultrasonic Preparation of Nano-CaCO Templates and Hollow Mesoporous SiO Nanoparticles for Voriconazole Loading.

Department of Drug Science and Technology and NIS - Centre, University of Turin, Via Pietro Giuria 9, Turin, 10125, Italy.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers created calcium carbonate (CaCO) nanoparticles as templates and used them to produce hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles (HMSNs) for drug delivery.
  • The HMSNs, with a high surface area and specific pore structure, effectively encapsulated the antifungal drug voriconazole (VOR), with a loading capacity of nearly 8%.
  • The study found that VOR release from the HMSNs followed Fickian diffusion, with higher cumulative release at elevated temperatures and lower pH levels.

Paclitaxel, a diterpenoid isolated from the bark of Taxus wallichiana var. chinensis (Pilger) Florin, is currently showing significant therapeutic effects against a variety of cancers. Baccatin III (Bac) and 10-Deacetylbaccatin III (10-DAB) are in great demand as important precursors for the synthesis of paclitaxel.

In order to effectively remove grease for the detection of sulfonamides, a non-toxic and low-cost hierarchical porous zirconia material was synthesized using the dual template method. The lipid impurities in an animal-derived food matrix can be absorbed by hierarchical zirconia. A ZrO prepolymer was synthesized by mixing amphiphilic triblock copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)--poly(propylene glycol)--poly(ethylene glycol) (P123) with tannin extract as the double template and Zr(SO) as the metal source.

Controllable Synthesis of Modified Porous Anatase TiO₂ with High Photocatalytic Activity.

J Nanosci Nanotechnol

Institute for Interdisciplinary Biomass Functional Materials Studies, Jilin Engineering Normal University, Changchun, 130052, P. R. China.

In this study, we added ZrO₂ and Y₂O₃ to stabilize the anatase TiO₂ phase at higher temperatures. Composite mesoporous TiO₂/ZrO₂/Y₂O₃ (TZY) oxides were prepared by a sol-gel method, and triblockcopolymer P123 and PEG was used as templates. The properties of the synthesized materials were characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Raman scattering, N₂ adsorption/desorption, and UV-Visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) methods et al.
