Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the apex-locating function of the TCM Endo V and to compare the results to these of the Root ZX.
Study Design: Forty-seven extracted maxillary incisor teeth with mature apices and patent single root canals were used for the study. After the root surfaces were cleaned and access cavities were prepared, the true working lengths (TL) were determined with a #10 stainless steel file. All samples were mounted in an alginate model especially developed to test the apex locators. Both electronic apex locators were used according to the manufacturer's recommendations and adjusted to 0.5-mm accuracy to the apical foramen. EL(1) was designates as the working length measured with Root ZX and EL(2) was designated as the working length measured with TCM Endo V. A paired t test was used to statistically analyze the significance of the mean differences at the 95% confidence interval of the differences (P = .001) among TL, EL(1), and EL(2).
Results: There were no statistically significant differences between TL and EL(1), TL and EL(2), and EL(1) and EL(2) (P = .001). Both Root ZX and TCM Endo V gave similar results.
Conclusions: TCM Endo V proved to be as reliable as Root ZX but the use of the device to determine the working length was not easy as Root ZX. Further studies are needed to compare TCM Endo V in clinical conditions with similar electric motor and apex locator combined devices.

Herein, a palladium-catalyzed bicycloaromatization of -(alkynyl)styrenes with alkynes is reported. In this protocol, the 6-- cyclization of -(alkynyl)styrenes is followed by deprotonation to complete the first cycloaromatization, and then, a regioselective alkyne insertion/C-H activation occurs to achieve the second cycloaromatization, resulting in atom- and step-economical syntheses of polysubstituted chrysenes. Notably, the products can be further used to construct π-extended arenes using the Scholl reaction.

The enantioselective and diastereoselective control of 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions to β-substituted cyclic enones has been developed. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of phthalazinium dicyanomethanides with cyclic dienones affords chiral tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-]phthalazine derivatives through vinylogous iminium ion activation by combining a cinchona-based primary amine and a chiral camphorsulfonic acid additive. Conversely, with a weaker 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid additive, the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of phthalazinium dicyanomethanides with β-substituted cyclic enones leads to chiral hexahydroisoindolo[1,2-]phthalazin-10(8)-one derivatives with excellent stereocontrol via -dienamine activation.

For severe degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (DLSS), the conventional percutaneous endoscopic translaminar decompression (PEID) has some limitations. The modified PEID, Cross-Overtop decompression, ensures sufficient decompression without excessive damage to the facet joints and posterior complex integrity. To evaluate the biomechanical properties of Cross-Overtop and provide practical case validation for final decision-making in severe DLSS treatment.

Sepsis is a life-threatening syndrome leading to hemodynamic instability and potential organ dysfunction. Oridonin, commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), exhibits significant anti-inflammation activity. To explore the protective mechanisms of oridonin against the pathophysiological changes, the authors conducted single-cell transcriptome (scRNA-seq) analysis on septic liver models induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).
