We report on the preparation of continuous ultrathin ferroelectric films of pure lead titanate by chemical solution deposition (CSD) methods. Aquo-diol solutions highly diluted have been used to obtain films with thickness down to approximately 13 nm, the lowest reported for CSD films. The formation of islands instead of continuous coatings, which has been reported when CSD is used to prepare ultrathin films, is avoided here. The piezoelectric activity of the films has been characterized by piezoresponse. force microscopy, showing that the thinnest film obtained retains a significant piezoelectric activity at the nanoscale, which is promising for their use as transducer elements in nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS).

Imaging depth remains a restriction for Synthetic Aperture (SA) approaches, even though SA techniques have been shown to overcome some of the drawbacks of Conventional Focused Beamforming (CFB) technique. This limitation is attributed to lesser energy per transmit in SA techniques compared to that of CFB technique. Therefore, in this paper, a systematic investigation is done to evaluate the improvement in imaging depth and image quality of B-mode ultrasound images in the case of SA technique using PZT transducer by boosting the input voltage to the transducer, while measuring the acoustic exposure parameters recommended in international standards.

Highly anisotropic piezoelectric composites promise to progress electroacoustic devices as a class by combining the advantages of both piezoceramics and polymers. Fundamentally, piezoelectric loudspeakers employ the converse piezoelectric effect to convert electrical to mechanical energy. Quasi-1-3 piezoceramic/polymer composites enable flat-panel loudspeakers that are tunable in elastic modulus, with opportunities for mechanical flexibility, optical transparency, and large-area coverage.

PIBs are emerging as a promising energy storage system due to high abundance of potassium resources and theoretical energy density, however, progress of PIBs is severely hindered by structural instability and poor cycling of anode material during continual insertion and extraction of larger-sized K. Hence, developing anode material with structural stability and stable cycling remains a great challenge. Herein, band gap-tuned Mo-doped and carbon-coated lead titanate (CMPTO) with zero-strain K storage is presented as ultra-stable PIBs anode.

Barium strontium lead titanate ((BaSr) Pb TiO), along with various compositions ((mol %) = 0, 2, 4, and 8), was synthesized through the conventional sol-gel reaction method. Following this, the resultant powders underwent a carefully controlled calcination process at 1000 °C for a period of 4 h. The examination of the crystalline phase of the calcined ceramics was conducted at room temperature using X-ray diffraction.

The recent discovery of the large piezoelectric response of Pb(MgNb)O-PbTiO (PMN-PT) ceramics induced by samarium doping has provided a substantially improved functionality to the group of lead-based relaxor-ferroelectric materials. Different mechanisms have been so far proposed for the large piezoelectricity; however, the explanations are contradictory and focused on a unified description. Here, we use nonlinear harmonic piezoelectric measurements combined with multiscale structural analysis to clarify the origins of the ultrahigh piezoelectric response of samarium-doped PMN-PT.
