An efficient method for the synthesis of diamino-o-benzoquinone based on the Michael reaction of electrochemically generated o-benzoquinone with azide ion is described, as well as an estimation of the homogeneous rate constant (k(obs)) of the reaction of o-benzoquinone with azide ion by the digital-simulation method.

Organophosphorus compounds, characterized by the incorporation of phosphorus into organic molecules, play a critical role in various fields such as medicine, agriculture, and industry. Their unique electronic properties and versatility make them essential in developing therapeutic agents, pesticides, and materials. One prominent class of organophosphorus compounds is organophosphorus heterocycles, which combine the benefits of both phosphorus and cyclic structures.

Azide-alkyne cycloaddition of cyclooct-2-yn-1-ol and 2-(azidophenyl)boronic acid proceeded rapidly at room temperature with complete regioselectivity to afford a triazole having a boronate ester group. The secondary interaction to form a boronate ion contributed to cycloaddition rate acceleration and the control of regioselectivity. The interaction to form an imine or hemiaminal was also evaluated.

The high salinity and organic content in oil and gas wastewaters can cause ion suppression during liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis, diminishing the sensitivity and accuracy of measurements in available methods. This suppression is severe for low molecular weight organic compounds such as ethanolamines (, monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA), -methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), and ,-ethyldiethanolamine (EDEA)). Here, we deployed solid phase extraction (SPE), mixed-mode LC, triple quadrupole MS with positive electrospray ionization (ESI), and a suite of stable isotope standards (, one per target compound) to correct for ion suppression by salts and organic matter, SPE losses, and instrument variability.

Photopolymerization of bovine serum albumin was carried out using reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by the irradiation of citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. The ROS in this case, singlet oxygen (O), targets aromatic amino acids within the protein to induce photopolymerization or crosslinking. Other ROS, like the hydroxyl radical, can also form in solution and under high-energy irradiation.

Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1), a sequence-specific DNA binding protein of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), is essential for viral genome replication and maintenance and is therefore an attractive target for the therapeutic intervention of EBV-associated cancers. Several EBNA1-specific inhibitors have demonstrated the ability to block EBNA1 function in vitro, but practical delivery strategies for these inhibitors in vivo are still lacking. Here, we report an intelligent hierarchical targeting theranostic nanosystem (denoted as mZGOCS@MnO-P5) that integrates an azide (N3) terminal dual-targeting peptide (N3-P5), a tumor microenvironment-responsive degradable MnO nanosheet, and a mesoporous ZnGaO:Cr, Sn near-infrared persistent luminescence (NIR-PL) nanosphere (mZGOCS).
