Erythrocyte ion transport in rats subjected to acute and chronic hypobaric hypoxia.

Published: February 2007

Our study addresses selected parameters of rat erythrocyte ion transport (Na(+)-K(+) pump, Na(+)-K(+)-2Cl- cotransport, and passive cation fluxes) after acute or chronic hypoxia exposure. We did not find any significant change of ion transport after acute hypoxia. However, chronic hypoxia could modify ion transport because the affinity of Na(+)-K(+) pump for intracellular Na(+) seems to be decreased.

PO Tetrahedron Assisted Chelate Engineering for 10.67%-Efficient Antimony Selenosulfide Solar Cells.

Anisotropic carrier transport and deep-level defect of antimony selenosulfide (Sb(S,Se)) absorber are two vital auses restraining the photovoltaic performance of this emerging thin-film solar cell. Herein, chelate engineering is proposed to prepare high-quality Sb(S,Se) film based on hydrothermal deposition approach, which realizes desirable carrier transport and passivated defects by using tetrahedral PO ion in dibasic sodium phosphate (NaHPO, DSP). The PO Lewis structure, on one hand in the form of [(SbO)(PO)] chelate, can adsorb on the polar planes of cadmium sulfide (CdS) layer, promoting the heterogeneous nucleation, and on the other hand, the tetrahedral PO inhibits horizontal growth of (SbS(e)) ribbons due to size effects, thus achieving desirable [hk1] orientation.

Background: White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are prominent neuroimaging markers of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) linked to cognitive decline. Nevertheless, the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying WMH remain unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the structural decoupling index (SDI) as a novel metric for quantifying the brain's hierarchical organization associated with WMH in cognitively normal older adults

Methods: We analyzed data from 112 cognitively normal individuals with varying WMH burdens (43 high WMH burden and 69 low WMH burden).

Commercial SiO Encapsulated in Hybrid Bilayer Conductive Skeleton as Stable Anode Coupling Chemical Prelithiation for Lithium-Ion Batteries.

Guangxi Key Laboratory of Petrochemical Resource Processing and Process Intensification Technology, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Guangxi University, Nanning, 530004, P. R. China.

Although Silicon monoxide (SiO) is regarded as the most promising next-generation anode material, the large volume expansion, poor conductivity, and low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) severely hamper its commercialization application. Designing a multilayer conductive skeleton combined with advanced prelithiation technology is considered an effective approach to address these problems. Herein, a reliable strategy is proposed that utilizes MXene and carbon nanotube (CNT) as dual-conductive skeletons to encapsulate SiO through simple electrostatic interaction for high-performance anodes in LIBs, while also performing chemical prelithiation.

LbHKT1;1 Negatively Regulates Salt Tolerance of Limonium bicolor by Decreasing Salt Secretion Rate of Salt Glands.

Plant Cell Environ

January 2025

Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Plant Stress, College of Life Sciences, Shandong Normal University, Ji'nan, China.

The HKT-type proteins have been extensively studied and have been shown to play important roles in long-distance Na transport, maintaining ion homoeostasis and improving salt tolerance in plants. However, there have been no reports on the types, characteristics and functions of HKT-type proteins in Limonium bicolor, a recretohalophyte species with the typical salt gland structure. In this study, five LbHKT genes were identified in L.

This review comprehensively explores the critical role of calcium as an essential small-molecule biomessenger in skeletal muscle function. Calcium is vital for both regulating muscle excitation-contraction coupling and for the development, maintenance, and regeneration of muscle cells. The orchestrated release of calcium from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is mediated by receptors such as the ryanodine receptor (RYR) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R), which is crucial for skeletal muscle contraction.
