To advance diagnosis and treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the authors have developed a number of specific diagnostic preparations basing on nDNA, RNA, cardiolipin immobilized into the three-dimensional lattice of polyacrylamide gel. Using such granulated antigenic preparations with magnetic properties, a correlation has been derived between SLE activity, visceral pathology and a level of specific antibodies. In view of a successful experimental use of the preparations as selective sorbents, they may be introduced into extracorporeal treatment. Immobilized granulated preparations can be used in immunofluorescent tests and enzyme immunoassays.

In this study, we developed new chiral hybrid perovskites, (R/S-MBA)(GA)PbI4, by incorporating achiral guanidinium (GA+) and chiral R/S-methylbenzylammonium (R/S-MBA+) into the perovskite framework. The resulting materials possess a distinctive structural configuration, positioned between 1D and 2D perovskites, which we describe as 1.5D.

Conductive hydrogels are an appealing class of "smart" materials with great application potential, as they combine the stimuli-responsiveness of hydrogels with the conductivity of magnetic fillers. However, fabricating multifunctional conductive hydrogels that simultaneously exhibit conductivity, self-healing, adhesiveness, and anti-freezing properties remains a significant challenge. To address this issue, we introduce here a freeze-thawing approach to develop versatile, multiresponsive composite cryogels able to preserve their features under low-temperature conditions.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a formidable barrier that restricts the entry of substances into the brain, complicating the study of brain function and the treatment of neurological conditions. Traditional methods of delivering genes from the periphery to the central nervous system (CNS) using adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) often require high doses, which can trigger immune responses and hepatotoxicity. Here, we developed a new AAV variant named AAVhu.

Directly detecting biomarkers in liquid biopsy for diagnosis and personalized treatment plays a crucial role in managing cancer relapse and increasing survival rates. Typically, the standard analysis of circulating tumour DNA requires lengthy isolation, extraction, and amplification steps, leading to sample contamination, longer turnaround time and higher assay costs. Surface plasmon resonance is an emerging and promising technology for rapid and real-time dynamic biomarker monitoring in liquid biopsy.

Ultra-precision point-of-care detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in foods is an important issue. Here, the detection sensitivity was improved by a signal cascade amplification strategy synergised by exonuclease III assisted isothermal amplification and reverse magnetic strategy. The double-stranded DNA formed by the aptamer and the target DNA as a sensing switch, avoiding the complex process of specific nucleic acid extraction.
