Possible propagating longitudinal strain solitary waves in a plate are shown to be seriously altered when physical cubic nonlinearity is taken into account in the modeling. This also affects an amplification of the wave due to the transverse instability of plane-localized waves and due to the plane-wave interaction.

Objectives: Caring for an individual with cognitive impairment carries a physical, mental, and emotional toll. This manuscript examines the relationship between caregiver psychosocial measures and longitudinal cognitive outcomes of stroke survivors, as well as analyzing the psychosocial factors as moderators of stroke severity and cognition.
Methods: This analysis was conducted on caregiver and stroke survivor dyads (n = 157) that participated in the Caring for Adults Recovering from the Effects of Stroke (CARES) project, an ancillary study of the REasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) national cohort study.

Background: Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) could serve as a robust tool for comprehensive evaluation of early changes across heart failure (HF) stages classified by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology guideline in diabetes mellitus (DM).
Objectives: The authors aimed to explore phenotypic imaging features characterizing DM participants at different HF stages by CMR.
Methods: DM participants with preserved ejection fraction who underwent CMR examination between January 2020 and December 2021 were evaluated.

Background: In patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), the impact of type 2 diabetes (T2D) on left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LV GLS) and its prognostic implications remains unclear. We aimed to evaluate LV function using two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with HFpEF with and without T2D, and to investigate its prognostic significance.
Methods: A total of 335 patients with HFpEF were prospectively enrolled for echocardiographic evaluation.

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is an important zoonotic pathogen. The aim of this paper is to report one polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-positive case of MERS-CoV in a 27-year-old man who was involved in a nationwide longitudinal surveillance study of certain zoonotic diseases in Jordan including MERS-CoV. Whole-blood and nasal swab samples were collected from the man and five camels in the vicinity of his living area.

Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is an effective intervention for high-risk patients with severe symptomatic mitral regurgitation (MR), but its acute impact on left ventricular (LV) function has not been well studied using advanced echocardiographic techniques. This study investigated the immediate effects of TEER on LV volumes and functions, as well as their influence on mid-term outcomes, using high-resolution 3D transesophageal echocardiography. In 80 patients undergoing TEER for severe MR (mean age 79±8 years, 49% with primary MR), LV end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) and stroke volume significantly decreased (161±61 to 147±54 ml and 69±18 to 50±15 ml, respectively), while end-systolic volume increased (92±60 to 97±45 ml; p<0.
