The search of inherited cancer susceptibility factors is an important subject in cancer epidemiology. Analyses of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in various genes revealed a correlation between the presence of specific allelic variants and cancer predisposition in diverse malignancies. STK15 is an important protein in control of the integrity of the mitotic spindle apparatus and genomic stability. We analysed the distribution of the functionally important T91A SNP in the STK15 gene in a cohort of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients and compared it to the distribution in a control group without malignancies. DNA from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded healthy renal tissue (RCC patients) or peripheral blood samples (control group) was isolated according to standard protocols. Allelic variant of STK15 nucleotide 91 was determined using restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Overall, 156 RCC patients and 158 patients without any malignancy were analysed. The distribution of the STK15 SNP in RCC patients (T/T, 58.97%; A/T, 36.53%; A/A, 4.49%) did not significantly differ from that of the control group (T/T, 51.27%; A/T, 41.14%; A/A, 7.59%). There was also no correlation between genotype and tumour grade or stage or other histopathological characteristics of the tumours. This first analysis of the STK15 T91A SNP in RCC patients revealed no correlation between a certain allelic variant and an increased risk for RCC.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate preoperative factors associated with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) utilization and outcomes for patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and tumour thrombus (TT). Radical nephrectomy with thrombectomy is a standard treatment for patients with RCC and associated TT. Morbidity and mortality rates tend to correlate with aggressiveness of tumour and TT level.

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of tumor iodine concentration obtained with dual-energy CT (DECT) for treatment response in patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI).
Materials And Methods: Retrospective single-center study of consecutive metastatic melanoma and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients undergoing first-line ICI treatment. The iodine concentration measurement time points include prior to initiation of therapy (baseline [BL]), after initiation (follow-up [FU1]), and either time point nearest to 12 months or at time of progression (final follow-up [FFU]).
The advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has transformed the management of advanced and high-risk renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In the adjuvant setting, ICIs, such as pembrolizumab, aim to reduce the risk of recurrence following potentially curative nephrectomy. However, this therapeutic approach introduces unique challenges, particularly related to immune-related adverse events (irAEs).

Purpose: In Norway, 5-year survival rates of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) are increasing. The objective of this study was to describe the survival of real-world patients with metastatic RCC (mRCC) across Norway and to identify associated factors. The results may provide additional information on the benefits of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in clinical practice.

Objective: Spinal orthoses are the most viable conservative treatment for scoliosis, and additive manufacturing techniques have shown huge perspective in producing patient-specific braces, reducing material waste, and production times. This pilot study aimed at determining whether 3D-printed braces could induce advantages or disadvantages compared to conventional braces in terms of mobility and gait, and at quantitatively evaluating the effects of braces on mobility and gait.
Methods: Ten participants were included in the study, eight with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and two with osteogenesis imperfecta.
