Article Abstract
This investigation deals with effective utilization of fly ash as adsorbent for the removal of Chrysoidine R from the aqueous solution. The fly ash is a major byproduct generated in coal-based thermal power plants and has good potential for use as an adsorbent. A series of experiments were carried out in a batch adsorption technique to obtain the effect of process variables viz. contact time, pH (2, 4, 6 and 8) initial concentration of the dye (400, 600, 800 and 1000mgL(-1)), amount of the adsorbent (125, 250, 375 and 500mgL(-1)), and temperature (303, 313, 323 and 333K) on adsorption. The concentration of dye was determined by spectrophotometer. The results showed that as the amount of the adsorbent was increased, the percentage of dye removal increased accordingly; higher adsorption percentage was observed at lower concentration of chrysoidine. The adsorption data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. The adsorption was found to obey pseudo-first order kinetics. An intra particle diffusion model was used to fit the experimental data. The thermodynamic parameters such as standard change in free energy, enthalpy and entropy of adsorption have been calculated. Adsorption of Chrysoidine R on fly ash was found to be an exothermic reaction.

The combined application of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) has achieved remarkable results in coal quality analysis by leveraging NIRS's sensitivity to organic compounds and XRF's reliability for inorganic composition. However, variations in particle size distribution negatively affect the diffuse reflectance of NIRS and the fluorescence signal intensities of XRF, leading to decreased accuracy and repeatability in predictions. To address this issue, this study innovatively proposes a particle size correction method that integrates image processing and deep learning.

Effect of Meloidogyne incognita and Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata (Psa) was observed singly, together and pre and post inoculations in 4 soil types on plant growth, parameters, chlorophyll, carotenoid and proline contents of beetroot (Beta vulgaris L). Plant growth, chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were greater in loam soil followed by 20% fly ash soil, 10% fly ash plus 10% sand amended soil and least in 20 % sand mix soil.

The knowledge of the sorption-desorption chemistry of As in soil is necessary for predicting the fate and behavior of As in soil environments. Therefore, this study assessed different organic (sugarcane bagasse and vermicompost) and inorganic amendments (steel slag and fly ash) for their impact on sorption-desorption of As in texturally different contaminated soils (of sandy clay (SC) and sandy clay loam (SCL) texture) to understand the effect of amendments on As retention and mobility.
