Background: While there have been significant advancements in recent years, complications following fixation for femoral neck fractures remain a concern. This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the influence of polytrauma and additional fractures on the occurrence of complications in patients who underwent surgical fixation for femoral neck fractures. The study focused on analyzing patient demographics, comorbidities, fracture classifications, fixation methods, and the likelihood of experiencing post-operative complications, with a specific emphasis on the impact of polytrauma and additional fractures.

Both denosumab (DMB) and bisphosphonates (BPs), antiresorptive drugs (ARDs) used for the treatment of osteoporosis and oncological disorders, are known for their potential to cause medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ). Besides ARDs, statins were recently associated with MRONJ development, especially in patients taking higher doses of statins for a longer period of time. Here, we report a case of a female patient with osteoporosis using statins and treated with alendronate for 3 years who rapidly developed MRONJ stage III after only a single low dose of DMB.

Objective: To investigate the incidence, primary causes, and risk factors for unplanned readmissions within one year after the first primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH).
Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from patients who had undergone the first primary THA for ONFH at two tertiary hospitals between January 2021 and December 2022, with complete 1-year follow-up assessments. Patients who experienced an unplanned readmission within 1 year were classified as the readmission group, while the others as the non-readmission group.
