We report a 66 years old woman with a diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism. Localization to mediastinum was obtained with parathyroid scintigraphy using 99mtc-methoxy-isobutyl-isonitrite (Tc99-MIBI). The patient was successfully operated upon by means of a videothora-coscopic approach. During the procedure serum parathormone was measured before and 10 minutes after adenomectomy, showing a more than 50% reduction from the basal level. An attempt to detect the precise site of the adenoma with a Tc99-MIBI probe was unsuccessful because of its proximity to the myocardium, but radioactivity was confirmed on the surgical specimen after resection. The patient's calcemia and parathormone levels became normal during the postoperative course and she remains normocalcemic 9 months after the procedure. In our case, preoperative localization and intraoperative parathormone measurements were both very useful for confirming surgical success; the intraoperative localization with a radioactive probe was not useful, but radioactivity was confirmed after resection on the surgical specimen. The endoscopic surgical procedure with videothoracoscopy was well tolerated, less painful than a thoracotomy, and it shortened the hospitalization period.

This report presents the case of a 68-year-old female patient with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who experienced persistently elevated alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels following resection of the primary liver tumor. The patient had previously undergone transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and liver tumor resection, but postoperative AFP levels continued to rise, suggesting the possibility of extrahepatic metastasis. PET-CT scans revealed an irregular soft tissue mass in the recto-uterine pouch, which was later confirmed as a HCC metastasis through needle biopsy.

The present work is the first and foremost radiological study of soil samples collected from industrial estates in Tamil Nadu. The magnetic susceptibility measurement revealed that 74.19% of the samples have medium %χFD, which denotes a commixture of coarser grains or the SP grains with a size of <0.

Background: Differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is the most common pediatric thyroid malignancy, with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) representing 90% of the cases. In 2015, the American Thyroid Association (ATA) developed management guidelines for pediatric DTC.
Procedure: Patients less than 21 years of age diagnosed with DTC between 2000 and 2015 at Texas Children's Hospital, Seattle Children's Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Children's Hospital Colorado, and Nationwide Children's Hospital were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate treatment practices before the implementation of the ATA guidelines.

Visible-light-driven photocatalytic uranium extraction based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are green and sustainable, but their performance is severely restricted by a strong exciton effect. Herein, inspired by the physiology of cardiac pacing, a novel fluorine-based COF (PyF-DaS-COF) with a biomimetic electronic pump has been fabricated and used for the photocatalytic extraction of uranium. Both experimental and theoretical calculations confirm that strongly electronegative fluorine plays a crucial role in exciton dissociation and charge transfer.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence as an alternative to traditional sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) techniques in breast cancer (BC) patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Specifically, the study aimed to assess sentinel node identification rates and the effectiveness of ICG in axillary staging without the use of radioactive tracers.
Methods: This retrospective study included 71 BC patients treated with NAC, who underwent SLNB using ICG fluorescence between 2020 and 2024.
