Background: Domestic violence (DV) encompasses a pattern of psychological, physical, sexual, financial, and/or emotional abuse, manifesting through assault, threats, and intimidation. Economic and social stressors in conjunction with the COVID-19 pandemic escalated DV cases worldwide, including those in Albania. Socioeconomic vulnerabilities worsened the situation, with DV-related complaints to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Albania increasing by 60% between March and May 2020, compared to the same period in 2019.

A burgeoning marketplace offers an expanding array of testing options. In many cases, direct-to-consumer genetic testing advertises information that could inform one's risk of heritable disease, including insight into having a genetic predisposition to cardiovascular disease or data about gene-drug interactions that could affect response to cardiovascular medications.

Background And Objective: For treating community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in adults, early switching from injectable to oral antimicrobials (switch therapy) is accepted once the clinical course is favorable. Lascufloxacin (LSFX) is a quinolone antibacterial agent, available in intravenous and oral formulations, demonstrating antibacterial activity against a relatively broad spectrum of community-onset pneumonia (COP). No switch therapy using the same drug from injectable to oral antimicrobials has been reported; therefore, we conducted the study to confirm the efficacy and safety of the switch therapy using LSFX.
