Objective: To evaluate perioperative occult blood loss following total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 40 patients undergoing TKA was conducted to calculate the mean blood loss and occult blood loss according to Gross formula.

Results: The mean total blood loss was 1538 ml in these cases with occult blood loss of 791 ml. In patients with autologous blood transfusion, the mean total blood loss was 1650 ml with occult blood loss of 786 ml. In patients without autologous blood transfusion, the mean total blood loss was 1370 ml with occult loss of 798 ml.

Conclusion: TKA often results in large volume of occult blood loss in the perioperative period which can not be fully compensated by autologous blood transfusion, and additional blood supply is needed for maintenance of the circulating volume.

Background/aim: Nintedanib may cause adverse events such as elevated liver enzyme levels, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. These adverse events should be managed appropriately as they affect the quality of life of patients. This study has aimed to analyze patient characteristics and time-to-onset of adverse events caused by nintedanib using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database.

Background: Stroke-induced transient immune suppression is believed to contribute to post-stroke infections. The β-adrenergic receptor antagonist, propranolol, has been shown to prevent stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) via reversing post-stroke immunosuppression in preclinical studies and in retrospective analysis in stroke patients. However, whether propranolol can reduce the risk of SAP has not been tested in prospective, randomised controlled trials.

Objective: The study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of single-stage versus multistage endovascular treatment in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients with Mirror Aneurysms.

Materials And Methods: Our research team performed a prospective study, focusing on the radiographic and clinical data of patients diagnosed with subarachnoid hemorrhage, specifically those who presented with Mirror Aneurysms upon admission to our institutions. According to the different endovascular treatment stages, these patients were grouped into the multistage cohort and the single-stage cohort.
