Background: Pancreas divisum is the most common anomaly of the pancreas. This anomaly has been known as a possible cause of recurrent pancreatitis.
Case Report: We performed computerized tomography (CT) of the abdomen in 5 children in whom a divided pancreas was confirmed using endoscopic cholangiopancreatography. In a girl, who had three episodes of severe acute pancreatitis, a CT examination confirmed a completely divided embryonal dorsal and ventral primordium. We named this variant of the divided pancreas the "bilobular pancreas". Contrary to the remaining 4 children in whom the control of the number and severity of attacks, as well as the control of pancreatic pain were achieved by pharmacotherapeutics and an adequate diet, in the reported patient sphincteroplasty of the papilla duodeni minor resulted in a full control of the disease.
Conclusion: The paper discussed the possibility that the variant of the divided pancreas, with anatomically completely separated ventral and dorsal pancreas and their ductal systems, is the key factor that determines the severity of pancreatic disease and an indication for sphincteroplasty of the papilla duodeni minor as the major therapeutic method.

Background: Progressive external ophthalmoplegia (PEO) is a classic manifestation of mitochondrial disease. However, the link between its genetic characteristics and clinical presentations remains poorly investigated.
Methods: We analysed the clinical, pathological and genetic characteristics of a large cohort of patients with PEO, based on the type of their mtDNA variations.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are often performed on ratios composed of a numerator trait divided by a denominator trait. Examples include body mass index (BMI) and the waist-to-hip ratio, among many others. Explicitly or implicitly, the goal of forming the ratio is typically to adjust for an association between the numerator and denominator.

Background: Fluoropyrimidines are metabolized in the liver by the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD), encoded by the gene. About 7% of the European population is a carrier of gene polymorphisms associated with reduced DPD enzyme activity.
Aim: To assess the prevalence of polymorphisms and their impact on fluoropyrimidine tolerability in Italian patients with gastrointestinal malignancies.

Background: We aimed to investigate the clinical and molecular characteristics of different degrees of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) protein expression in HER2-negative breast cancer and the related factors affecting the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in HER2-low breast cancer patients.
Methods: The study endpoint was pathological complete remission (PCR). Blood specimens and fresh cancer tissue samples were collected before neoadjuvant chemotherapy for whole-exon sequencing (WES) and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), and patients were divided into a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-low group and a HER2-0 group according to their HER2 expression status via bioinformatics analysis.
Background: Epidemics and pandemics have been shown to have widespread effects on health systems. Diabetes is a condition of particular risk during national emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of COVID-19 in the patient's diabetes quality management.
