Aim: To assess the efficacy of the combined administration of myo-inositol and zinc, a mineral involved in the insulin pathway, in paediatric obesity with insulin resistance on HOMA-IR, glucose-insulin metabolism, and lipid profile.
Materials And Methods: Double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study conducted in North Italy. Fifty-six patients (10-18 years, Tanner stage ≥3) with obesity and insulin resistance were randomized to myo-inositol (2000 mg), zinc gluconate (5 mg), and galactooligosaccharides (GOS) from plant-based origin (1000 mg) (TRT) or placebo (PLC) containing only GOS from plant-based origin (1000 mg).

Despite a high sucrose accumulation in its taproot vacuoles, sugar beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) is sensitive to freezing. Earlier, a taproot-specific accumulation of raffinose was shown to have beneficial effects on the freezing tolerance of the plant.

Background: The rapid production of doubled haploids by anther culture technology is an important breeding method for awnless triticale. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of triticale genotype and the types and ratios of exogenous hormones in the medium on the efficiency of triticale anther culture.
Results: Anthers of five triticale genotypes were cultured on four different callus induction media and the calli were induced to differentiate into green plants by culture on three different differentiation media.

Phosphate (P) is the plant macronutrient with, by far, the lowest solubility in soil. In soils with low P availability, the soil solution concentrations are low, often below 2 [µmol P/L]. Under these conditions, the diffusive P flux, the dominant P transport mechanism to plant roots, is severely restricted.

Purslane is a plant with high nutritional content that is mainly produced in the central part of Mexico. The nutritional content of purslane depends on various factors such as climatic and soil conditions, phenology, and fertilization. This article describes the H NMR metabolomics profiling of purslane in relation to fertilization at two harvest stages: C and C (27 and 42 days after emergence).
