Background: Leprosy (Hansen's disease) is an infectious disease most common in resource-limited countries caused by the acid-fast bacilli Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis that frequently affects the skin and peripheral nerves. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with multidrug therapy is crucial to reduce disease transmission and sequelae, which include nerve function impairment, ocular injury, and stigmatizing physical deformities. Traditional treatment of multibacillary leprosy consists of 12-24 months of multidrug therapy with dapsone, rifampin, and clofazimine.

Background: Malaria remains a threat in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Côte d'Ivoire, where it is endemic and represents the leading cause of hospital consultations, morbidity and mortality. The strong climatic variations that exist between coastal and savannah areas of Côte d'Ivoire suggest that vector control interventions should be scheduled according to the eco-epidemiological diversity. This study evaluates bioecological parameters of vectors and malaria transmission in two health districts, one coastal and one central of Côte d'Ivoire.

Recent years have seen intense interest in the development of point-of-care nucleic acid diagnostic technologies to address the scaling limitations of laboratory-based approaches. Chief among these are combinations of isothermal amplification approaches with CRISPR-based detection and readouts of target products. Here, we contribute to the growing body of rapid, programmable point-of-care pathogen tests by developing and optimizing a one-pot NASBA-Cas13a nucleic acid detection assay.

Thua nao, a traditional Thai fermented soybean, offers a unique aroma and nutritional value. However, fresh thua nao cannot be stored for long periods due to its high in water activity (a). This study examined the effects of various drying methods, including natural sun drying and machine drying methods, namely hot air, microwave vacuum (MIC), and vacuum drying on the qualities of dried black soybean thua nao.

Reactions and interactions at interfaces play pivotal roles in processes ranging from atmospheric aerosols influencing climate to battery electrodes determining charge-discharge rates to defects in catalysts controlling the fate of reactants to the outcome of biological processes at membrane interfaces. Tools to probe these surfaces at the atomic-molecular level are thus critical. Chief among non-invasive probes is the vibrational spectroscopy sum frequency generation (SFG).
