An immunohistochemical study using two monoclonal antibodies (MoAb 30 and MoAb 47) against thyroid peroxidase (TPO) was performed on surgical specimens of human thyroid carcinoma (n = 65), adenoma (n = 70) and Graves' disease (n = 10). Normal adjacent thyroid tissue was used as positive control. Monoclonal antibody 30 reacted significantly with all adenoma and most carcinoma, whereas MoAb 47 reacted with 66 adenoma but only two carcinoma. Of the four adenomas that did not react with MoAb 47, three were of the fetal type. Both carcinoma reacting with MoAb 47 were of the well-differentiated follicular type. These findings further confirm the hypothesis that thyroid carcinoma is associated with changes in the quantity and antigenic properties of TPO. Although the alterations in antigenic behavior revealed by MoAb 47 are not 100% specific, they may allow more accurate diagnosis of malignancy in thyroid tumors.

Despite decades of improvements in cytotoxic therapy, the current standard of care for locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC) provides, on average, only a few months of survival benefit. Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), a technique that accurately delivers high doses of radiation to tumors in fewer fractions, has emerged as a promising therapy to improve local control of LAPC; however, its effects on the tumor microenvironment and hypoxia remain poorly understood. To explore how SBRT affects pancreatic tumors, we combined an orthotopic mouse model of pancreatic cancer with an intravital microscopy platform to visualize changes to the in vivo tumor microenvironment in real-time.

Oxidative stress and inflammation are indispensable components of ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. In this study, we investigated the effects of low and high doses of caftaric acid (CA) on reducing kidney and remote organ damage induced by IR. We divided Wistar rats into four groups: sham, IR, low (40 mg/kg body weight (BW)), and high (80 mg/kg BW) CA groups.

To investigate the functional role of S100A4 in advanced colorectal carcinoma (Ad-CRC) and locally advanced rectal carcinoma (LAd-RC) receiving neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT). We analyzed histopathological and immunohistochemical sections from 150 patients with Ad-CRC and 177 LAd-RC patients treated with NCRT. S100A4 knockout (KO) HCT116 cells were also used.

CD47 interacts with signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPα) on macrophages to deliver an anti-phagocytic signal, enabling tumor cells to evade immune destruction. This study explores the relationship between CD47 and SIRPα expression and key clinical prognostic factors, microvascular density (MVD), and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) cases. We analyzed tissue samples from 122 DLBCL cases using tissue microarray (TMA) blocks and immunohistochemical staining for CD47, SIRPα, CD31, and CD3.
