To evaluate the clinical and radiologic outcomes of arthroscopic augmented partial repair (APR) with acellular dermal matrix versus arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) in massive rotator cuff tears. The study included a total of 49 patients with massive rotator cuff tears who underwent arthroscopic APR (26 patients) and SCR (23 patients) between March 2018 and June 2021. Clinical scores, visual analog scores, and range of motion were collected preoperatively and postoperatively until the last follow-up.

A primary challenge following severe musculoskeletal trauma is incomplete muscle regeneration. Current therapies often fail to heal damaged muscle due to dysregulated healing programs and insufficient revascularization early in the repair process. There is a limited understanding of the temporal changes that occur during the early stages of muscle remodeling in response to engineered therapies.

Pertussis (or whooping cough) has experienced a global resurgence despite widespread vaccine efforts. In China, the incidence of pertussis has rapidly increased, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. Whole-genome sequencing analysis was performed on 60 strains isolated in Beijing from 2020-2023, and the sequences were compared with those of 635 strains from China and 943 strains from other countries.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are a desirable class of high aspect ratio nanomaterials (HARNs) owing to their extensive applications. Given their demand, the growing occupational and consumer exposure to these materials has warranted an extensive investigation into potential hazards they may pose towards human health. This study utilised both the in vitro mammalian cell gene mutation and the cytokinesis-blocked micronucleus (CBMN) assays to investigate genotoxicity in human lymphoblastoid (TK6) and 16HBE14o human lung epithelial cells, following exposure to NM-400 and NM-401 MWCNTs for 24 h.

The promise of injection of extracellular matrix (ECM) from animal hearts as a treatment of myocardial ischemia has been limited by immune reactions and harsh ECM-damaging extraction procedures. We developed a novel method to produce lab-grown human 3D acellular ECM particles from human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to mitigate product variability, immunogenicity, and preserve ECM architecture. We hypothesized that intramyocardial injection (I/M) of this novel ECM (dia ~200 microns) would improve cardiac function in a post-myocardial infarction (MI) murine model.
