The low-molecular-weight range of the circulatory proteome is termed the 'peptidome', and could be a rich source of cancer-specific diagnostic information because it is a 'recording' of the cellular and extracellular enzymatic events that take place at the level of the cancer-tissue microenvironment. This new information archive seems to mainly exist in vivo, bound to high-abundance proteins such as albumin. Measuring panels of peptidome markers might be more sensitive and specific than conventional biomarker approaches. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various methods for studying the peptidome.

Patient-centered precision oncology strives to deliver individualized cancer care. In lung cancer, preclinical models and technological innovations have become critical in advancing this approach. Preclinical models enable deeper insights into tumor biology and enhance the selection of appropriate systemic therapies across chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, antibody-drug conjugates, and emerging investigational treatments.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) from can elicit immune responses, positioning them as promising acellular vaccine candidates. We characterized EVs from an avirulent cell wall mutant (Δ) and evaluated their protective potential against invasive candidiasis. EVs from the yeast (YEVs) and hyphal (HEVs) forms of the SC5314 wild-type strain were also tested, yielding high survival rates with SC5314 YEV (91%) and YEV immunization (64%).

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) plays a crucial role in facilitating electron transport during oxidative phosphorylation, thus contributing to cellular energy production. Statin treatment causes a decrease in CoQ10 levels in muscle tissue as well as in serum, which may contribute to the musculoskeletal side effects. Therefore, we aimed to assess the effect of newly initiated statin treatment on serum CoQ10 levels after acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and the correlation of CoQ10 levels with key biomarkers of subclinical or clinically overt myopathy.

Hypertension is a multifactorial and complex disease influenced by genetic and environmental factors, and it has become one of the most serious public health challenges. This study aimed to investigate the changes in hypertension based on urinary proteome. The stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSPs) model was used to examined urinary proteome changes during the development of hypertension.

Clinical studies have suggested that tirzepatide may also possess hepatoprotective effects; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying this association remain unclear. In our study, we performed biochemical analyses of serum and histopathological examinations of liver tissue in mice. To preliminarily explore the molecular mechanisms of tirzepatide on metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was employed for comprehensive metabolomic, lipidomic, and proteomic analyses in MAFLD mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD).
