The reaction of 4-ethynyl-pyridine with tert-butyl lithium followed by its addition to (Me3tacn)RhCl3 affords the facial octahedral complex (Me3tacn)Rh(CCPy)3, condensation of which with the square planar complex cis-(DCPE)Pt(NO3)2 results in a self-assembled trigonal bipyramidal cage with Rh(III) and Pt(II) atoms occupying the vertices.

New tributyltin(IV) complexes containing the carboxylate ligands 3-(4-methyl-2-oxoquinolin-1(2H)-yl)propanoic acid () and 2-(4-methyl-2-oxoquinolin-1(2H)-yl)acetic acid () have been synthesized. Their structures have been determined by elemental microanalysis, FT-IR and multinuclear NMR (H, C and Sn) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study. A solution state NMR analysis reveals a four-coordinated tributyltin(IV) complex in non-polar solvents, while an X-Ray crystallographic analysis confirms a five-coordinated trigonal-bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom due to the formation of 1D chains.

The title compound, [Zn(CHClNO)Cl], is a dinuclear zinc(II) complex with three chlorido ligands and one penta-dentate ligand containing quinolin-8-olato and bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine groups. One of the two Zn atom adopts a tetra-hedral geometry and coordinates two chlorido ligands with chelate coord-ination of the N and O atoms of the quinolin-8-olato group in the ligand. The other Zn atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, and coordinates one chlorido-O atom of the quinolin-8-olato group and three N atoms of the bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine unit.

We are presenting an easy synthetic access to the aqueous synthesis of truncated trigonal silver nanobipyramids with tunable width and height in a facile two step synthesis. We modified a synthesis that employs seed particles with twinning faults on which silver is deposited laterally along the twinning fault, leading to flat particles. The ratio of lateral and vertical growth is adjusted by the co-titration of further noble metal salts at nanomolar concentrations alongside the silver precursor.

Five metal dithiocarbamate complexes [M(PTHIQDTC)] [where PTHIQDTC is (S)-1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline dithiocarbamate anion and M is Ni(II) (1), Sn(II) (2), Hg(II) (3), Pb(II) (4) and Zn(II) (5)] were synthesized from the reaction of MX (X is Cl for 1-3 and OAc for 4-5) with ligand of triethylammonium (S)-1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline dithiocarbamate [EtNH][PTHIQDTC] in methanolic solution at room temperature. The five complexes were characterized by IR, H andC NMR, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and TGA analysis. Recrystallization of [Zn(PTHIQDTC)] (5) in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) converts 5 to [Zn(PTHIQDTC)(DMSO)] (6).

Five complexes of gallium derived from hydroxamic acids have been synthesised, characterised, and their anti-bacterial activity and mammalian cell toxicity established. These are three metal-organic complexes; [Ga(BPHA)] 1, [Ga(BHA-)] 2, [Ga(SHA-)(SHA-)] 3, and two heteroleptic organometallic complexes [GaMe(BPHA)] 4, and [GaMe(BHA-)] 5, along with the iron complex [Fe(BPHA)] 6 (BPHA-H = -benzoyl--phenylhydroxamic acid, BHA-H = phenylhydroxamic acid, and SHA-H = salicylhydroxamic acid). Solid-state structures of 1, 4-6 were identified by single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
