Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), including pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, regulate heart rate and rhythm in patients with cardiac conditions. With an aging population, CIED-related complications, especially pacemaker pocket infections, are rising. Risk factors include frailty, older age, and superficial device fixation, while risk mitigation involves larger pocket sizes, submuscular fixation, and absorbable antibacterial envelopes.

Unlabelled: The intermuscular technique for subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) implantations is a technique for implanting the device between the anterior serratus muscle and latissimus dorsi (LD) muscle. A 70-year-old hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patient underwent a surgical repositioning of an S-ICD due to a moved device with skin thinning from mechanical stress. The patient had an S-ICD implantation 4 years prior to the reimplantation and the intermuscular technique was not expected to be achieved.

Breast reconstructive surgery has evolved significantly over the years. One of the recent advancements is the use of prepectoral implants in combination with synthetic and biological material as a natural and effective coverage. To date, there is little published data on breast reconstruction using acellular bovine pericardium matrix and most concern submuscular breast reconstruction.

Background: Breast augmentation with implants recorded over 1.6 billion procedures globally in 2022. To reduce surgical trauma and complications and facilitate a fast recovery, we employ an ultrasound-guided local-regional anesthesia technique, the creation of a partial submuscular implant pocket by direct endoscopic visualization and minimal skin access on the mammary fold.
