We present a mathematical model of CZE based on the concept of eigenmobilities - the eigenvalues of matrix M tied to the linearized governing equations of electromigration, and the spectral decomposition of matrix M into matrices of amplitudes P(j). Any peak in an electropherogram, regardless of whether it is an analyte peak or a system peak (system zone), is matched with its matrix P(j). This enables calculation of the peak parameters, such as the transfer ratio and the molar conductivity detection response (which give the indirect detection signal and the conductivity detection signal, respectively), when the initial disturbance caused by the injection of the sample is known. We also introduce new quantities, such as the generalized transfer ratio and the conductivity response of system zones, and show how the amplitude (intensity, area) of the analyte peaks and the system peaks can be calculated. We offer a free software, PeakMaster (http://www.natur.cuni.cz/gas), which yields this information in a user-friendly way.
Background: Computational modeling indicated that pathological high shear stress (HSS; 100 dyn/cm) is generated in pulmonary arteries (PAs; 100-500 µm) in congenital heart defects causing PA hypertension (PAH) and in idiopathic PAH with occlusive vascular remodeling. Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a feature of PAH. We hypothesize that HSS induces EndMT, contributing to the initiation and progression of PAH.
Dengue fever (DF) has become a major public health concern in Nepal, with increasing outbreaks in recent years. Transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, this climate-sensitive viral disease presents a significant challenge for healthcare providers and policymakers. Since 2004, Nepal has experienced a sharp increase in DF cases, peaking in 2022 with 54784 cases and 88 deaths.
In both diurnal and nocturnal species, the neurons in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) generate a daily pattern in which the impulse frequency peaks at midday and is lowest during the night. This pattern, common to both day-active and night-active species, has led to the long-standing notion that their functional difference relies merely on a sign reversal in SCN output. However, recent evidence shows that the response of the SCN to the animal's physical activity is opposite in nocturnal and diurnal animals.
The decomposition of ozone on supported manganese oxide catalysts, studied here, exemplifies reactions involving electron transfer. In situ extended X-ray absorption fine-structure spectra (Mn K-edge) on in situ treated samples show that the supported phase in MnO/SiO resembles MnO while that in MnO/AlO samples resembles MnO. In situ Raman spectroscopy shows the involvement of a common peroxide surface species.
Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious pregnancy complication associated with impaired trophoblast function. Integrin β3 (ITGB3) is a cell adhesion molecule that plays a role in cell movement. The objective of this study was to identify the biological function and expression level of ITGB3 in PE.
