Introduction: Acute bleeding of different genesis can be a severe, life-threatening problem in neonatology. Recombinant factor seven (rFVIIa) is known to have unique hemostatic properties in adults and older children.
Case Presentation: Three cases of acute life-threatening peri- and postnatal hemorrhage were successfully controlled after the application of fFVIIa. All infants were first treated with vitamin K, fresh-frozen plasma and platelet transfusion.
Conclusion: The cases substantiate other reports that rFVIIa is an effective treatment for acute, refractory and life-threatening bleeding in neonates and premature infants.

Radiotherapy (RT) is widely applied in tumor therapy, but inevitable side effects, especially for skin radiation injury, are still a fatal problem and life-threatening challenge for tumor patients. The main components of topical radiation protection preparations currently available on the market are antioxidants, such as SOD, which are limited by their unstable activity and short duration of action, making it difficult to achieve the effects of radiation protection and skin radiation damage treatment. Therefore, we designed a drug-free antioxidant hydrogel patch with encapsulated bioactive epidermal growth factor (EGF) for the treatment of radiation skin injury.

Pulmonary sequestration is a rare pulmonary malformation, typically characterized by asymptomatic presentation or recurrent pulmonary infections, with chest pain and hemothorax being exceedingly rare occurrences. The rupture and hemorrhage of maternal pulmonary sequestration during pregnancy pose a life-threatening condition that is challenging to diagnose. We present a case of a 37-year-old pregnant woman in her third trimester who presented with acute progressive hemothorax, a complication arising from maternal pulmonary sequestration.

Aspiration pneumonia is a serious problem in the elderly due to weakened swallowing reflexes or underlying gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which can become life-threatening, sometimes requiring extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. Lung transplantation is a possible therapeutic option for patients with no signs of lung recovery despite prolonged ECMO support.

Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (anti-MDA5) clinically linked amyopathic dermatomyositis (CADM) is a rare autoimmune condition strongly linked to rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD), a life-threatening complication. We present a 63-year-old female patient with anti-MDA5-positive CADM, who developed RP-ILD with an imaging pattern consistent with organizing pneumonia. She presented with Gottron's papules, periungual erythema, progressive dyspnea, and anorexia.

Background The safety and adverse effects (AEs) associated with approved COVID-19 vaccines in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) require further examination, particularly as there is limited information available for MS patients in Saudi Arabia. This study sought to investigate the reported AEs of COVID-19 vaccines among MS patients admitted to a major rehabilitation center in Saudi Arabia. Methods A cross-sectional analysis was conducted from January 2023 to March 2024 at Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City (SBAHC) in Riyadh.
