Two new series of 2-amido- and 2-aminocarbonylpurines have been synthesized using a Pd catalyst cross-coupling reaction either with amides or amines in the presence of CO. Moderate in vitro inhibitory activity against CDK1 and CDK5 was observed with IC(50) of 0.9muM for the most active compound (18c).

Pd(0)/Pd(II) Electromerism Triggered by Lewis Base Coordination to a Redox-Active Silicon Z-Type Ligand.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Electromerism (aka. valence tautomerism) corresponds to the switching of electronic distributions between redox-active ligands and central elements. While this phenomenon is well established for several transition metals, the Pd(0)/Pd(II) couple could not yet be involved due to the high energy of the Pd(0) state.

A series of Pd/MgO catalysts based on nanocrystalline MgO were prepared via different sol-gel approaches. In the first two cases, palladium was introduced during the gel preparation, followed by drying it in supercritical or ambient conditions. In the third case, aerogel-prepared MgO was impregnated with an ethanol solution of Pd(NO).

This study focused on searching for more effective nanomaterials for environmental remediation and health protection; thus, coliform bacteria, yeast and the organic food dye sunset yellow were selected as target pollutants to be eliminated under solar light by Ag/Cr-TiO and Pd/Cr-TiO. Firstly, Cr was in situ incorporated into the anatase crystalline lattice by the sol-gel method; then, Ag or Pd nanoparticles were deposited on Cr-TiO by chemical photoreduction. The scientific challenge addressed by the development of these composites was to analyse the recovery of Cr, to be employed in photocatalyst formulation and the enhancement of the TiO photocatalytic activity by addition of other noble metals.

UiO-66(Zr)-2OH-Supported Pd NP Catalysts Accelerated a Fenton-Like Reaction: Iron Cycling and Hydrogen Peroxide Generation Achieved Simultaneously.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Both the sluggish kinetics of Fe(II) regeneration and usage restriction of HO have severely hindered the scientific progress of the Fenton reaction toward practical applications. Herein, a reduction strategy of activated hydrogen, which was used to simultaneously generate HO and accelerate the regeneration of ferrous in a Fenton-like reaction based on the reduction of activated hydrogen derived from H, was proposed. Two types of composite catalysts, namely, Pd/UiO-66(Zr)-2OH and Pd@UiO-66(Zr)-2OH, were successfully prepared by loading nano-Pd particles onto the outer and inner pores of UiO-66(Zr)-2OH in different loading modes, respectively.

Enantioselective Preparation of Cyclopentene-Based Amino Acids with a Quaternary Carbon Center.

Azlactone is an important starting material for synthesizing amino acids containing a quaternary α-carbon. In this study, we have developed a sequential "one-pot" procedure involving an enantioselective spirocyclization reaction followed by acidic azlactone opening, which led to amino acid derivatives. The key step of this procedure is a spirocyclization between propargylated azlactones and enals by using a cooperative catalytic approach that combines chiral secondary amine and achiral Pd(0) complexes.
