Based on the linear thermoacoustics, a symmetrical standing-wave thermoacoustic engine is simulated with a cylindrical tube and a tapered one as the resonance tube, respectively. The experiments with both cylindrical and tapered tubes are carried out. The suppression of nonlinear effects due to tapered tube as the resonance tube is discussed. Both simulation and experimental results show that the performance of the tapered tube is better than cylindrical one as the resonance tube.

The receptor tyrosine kinase EphB4 is involved in tumor angiogenesis, proliferation, and metastasis. Designed ankyrin repeat proteins (DARPins) binding to the EphB4 extracellular domain were identified from a combinatorial library using phage display. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) allowed us to distinguish between DARPins that either compete with the EphB4 ligand ephrin-B2 for binding to a common site or target a different epitope.

Transport of protein drugs using a pneumatic tube system has been reported to result in high particle levels. In this study, pneumatic tube transport of trastuzumab in saline polyolefin bags was compared to delivery by hospital porters using an electric platform truck in an underground tunnel system.
