Safety culture is an important topic for managers in high-hazard industries because a deficient safety culture has been linked to organizational accidents. Many researchers have argued that trust plays a central role in models of safety culture but trust has rarely been measured in safety culture/climate studies. This article used explicit (direct) and implicit (indirect) measures to assess trust at a UK gas plant. Explicit measures assessed trust by asking workers to consider and state their attitude to attitude objects. Implicit measures assessed trust in a more subtle way by using a priming task that relies on automatic attitude activation. The results show that workers expressed explicit trust for their workmates, supervisors, and senior managers, but only expressed implicit trust for their workmates. The article proposes a model that conceptualizes explicit trust as part of the surface levels of safety culture and implicit trust as part of the deeper levels of safety culture. An unintended finding was the positive relationship between implicit measures of trust and distrust, which suggests that trust and distrust are separate constructs. The article concludes by considering the implications for safety culture and trust and distrust in high-hazard industries.

Indocyanine green (ICG) is a water-soluble green substance that is detectable through infrared cameras and emits greenish light. Approved for medical use in the 1950s, ICG has gained prominence as a real-time visualization tool. Widely recognized as a generally safe substance, ICG is applied in diverse fields.

The effectiveness of poultry vaccination in preventing the transmission of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (AIVs) has been debated, and its impact on wild birds remains uncertain. Here, we reconstruct the movements of H5 subtype AIV lineages among vaccinated poultry, unvaccinated poultry, and wild birds, worldwide, from 1996 to 2023. We find that there is a time lag in viral transmission among different host populations and that movements from wild birds to unvaccinated poultry were more frequent than those from wild birds to vaccinated poultry.

Background: Risk factors and comorbidities can complicate management of non-valvular atrial fibrillation. We describe and compare real-world safety and effectiveness of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs; apixaban, rivaroxaban, dabigatran) and vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) in subgroups of patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation at high risk for gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, utilizing data from a national quasi-exhaustive French database.
Methods: Anticoagulant-naïve adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation with ≥1 gastrointestinal bleeding risk factor, initiating anticoagulant treatment January 2016-December 2019, and covered by the French national health data system were eligible.

Objective: To analyse at our Institution the criteria for selecting a first-line therapy for patients with an advanced radioiodine-refractory thyroid cancer, their clinical responses, safety and survival outcomes.
Patients And Methods: We extracted data from 69 consecutive patients referred from September 2016 to September 2024 at Federico II University Hospital, among whom 44 patients were treated with TKIs as first line treatment and outside any clinical trial, and form the basis of this report.
Results: Thirty-one (71%) patients were treated with the antiangiogenesis inhibitor lenvatinib and 13 (29%) with selective tyrosine kinase inhibitors (s-TKIs).

Ginsenoside Rh2(S) is well-known for its therapeutic potential against diverse conditions, including some cancers, inflammation, and diabetes. The enzymatic activity of uridine diphosphate glycosyltransferase 51 (UGT51) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae plays a pivotal role in the glycosylation process between UDP-glucose (donor) and protopanaxadiol (acceptor), to form ginsenoside Rh2. However, the catalytic efficiency of the UGT51 has remained a challenging task.
