Learning from nature has garnered significant attention in the scientific community for its potential to inspire creative solutions in material or catalyst design. The study highlights the design of a biomimetic single selenium (Se) site-modified carbon (C) moiety that retains the unique reactivity of selenoenzyme with peroxides, which plays crucial roles in selectively catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The as-designed Se-C demonstrates nearly 100 % 4-electron selectivity, evidenced by 0.

The subclavian steal syndrome (SSS) is defined by the reversal of flow in the ipsilateral vertebral artery in the setting of subclavian artery stenosis proximal to its origin. Here, we describe a rare case of left SSS with significant left subclavian artery stenosis associated with anomalous origin of the left vertebral artery (LVA) directly from the aortic arch in a patient presenting with signs of vertebrobasilar insufficiency and resolution of symptoms following angioplasty. Through this case, the authors try to emphasize the importance and the correct technique of using Doppler ultrasonography, and the importance of invasive angiography in understanding the mechanism of subclavian steal in patients with anomalous LVA origin.

Purpose: Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred treatment for long-term hemodialysis patients to allow reliable vascular access. Arteriovenous graft (AVG) is monitored using Doppler sonography to check a vessel's condition and predict complications such as steal syndrome. In this study, we developed an analysis algorithm and method to quantify steal syndrome using Doppler sonography.

To explore the clinical characteristics of unilateral vertebral artery V4 segment occlusive lesions (severe stenosis or occlusion), where the contralateral vertebral artery can be compensated through blood flow and reverse supply to the posterior inferior cerebellarartery (PICA). This study is a retrospective case series of 66 patients with V4 segment occlusive lesions of unilateral vertebral artery diagnosed and treated from June 2020 to October 2022. Patient data were retrospectively collected, and their hemodynamic characteristics and imaging data were analyzed.
