Long-term use of low-dose aspirin has been demonstrated to reduce cancer risk, but the duration of necessary medication use remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the long-term chemoprotective effect of aspirin among the Chinese population. This population-based study included all aspirin users between 2000 and 2019.

Recent research has increasingly focused on phytochemicals as promising anticancer agents, with glucosinolates (GSLs) and their hydrolytic derivatives playing a central role. These sulfur-containing compounds, found in plants of the Brassicales order, are converted by myrosinase enzymes into biologically active products, primarily isothiocyanates (ITCs) and indoles, which exhibit significant anticancer properties. Indole-3-carbinol, diindolylmethane, sulforaphane (SFN), phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), benzyl isothiocyanate, and allyl isothiocyanate have shown potent anticancer effects in animal models, particularly in breast, prostate, lung, melanoma, bladder, hepatoma, and gastrointestinal cancers.

Naringin, a flavanone glycoside found abundantly in citrus fruits, is well-known for its various pharmacological properties, particularly its significant anticancer effects. Research, both in vitro and in vivo, has shown that naringin is effective against several types of cancer, including liver, breast, thyroid, prostate, colon, bladder, cervical, lung, ovarian, brain, melanoma, and leukemia. Its anticancer properties are mediated through multiple mechanisms, such as apoptosis induction, inhibition of cell proliferation, cell cycle arrest, and suppression of angiogenesis, metastasis, and invasion, all while exhibiting minimal toxicity and adverse effects.

Purpose Of Review: The purpose of this review is to summarize the most recent evidence on surgical management, strategies to reduce tumor recurrence, and surveillance regimens in patients diagnosed with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) and elected for radical treatment.
Recent Findings: Minimally invasive surgery is gaining momentum in the surgical management of UTUC. Chemoprophylaxis is still the gold standard to reduce intravesical recurrence after radical nephroureterectomy (RNU).
