Article Abstract

Objective: To study the phloroglucinol derivatives of Dryopteris fragrans.

Methods: Isolation and purification were carried out on repeated silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and prepare HPLC. The structures of the compounds were determined by physicochemical properties and spectral analysis.

Results: Four compounds were isolated and identified as aspidin PB (I), dryofragin (II), aspidinol (III), aspidin BB (IV).

Conclusion: Compounds IV is isolated from this plant for the first time.

The antiausterity strategy in anticancer drug discovery has attracted much attention as a way to exterminate cancer cells under nutrient deprived conditions which are commonly found in solid tumors. These tumors under low nutrient stress are known to be malignant and often resist conventional drug therapy. As a potential drug candidate, we focused on the meroterpenoid natural product callistrilone O which has demonstrated extremely potent antiausterity properties toward PANC-1 pancreatic carcinoma in vitro.

Phloretin and its derivatives are dihydrochalcone compounds with diverse pharmacological properties and biological activities, offering significant potential for applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Due to their structural similarity to flavonoids, their extraction and isolation were highly challenging. Although the biosynthesis of phloretin via three distinct pathways has been reported, a systematic comparison within the same host has yet to be conducted.

  • POCOP-Ni(II) pincer compounds, initially studied for their catalytic properties, were evaluated for their anticancer and antioxidant activities in this research.
  • Four specific POCOP-Ni(II) complexes derived from phloroglucinol showed significant cytotoxicity against various cancer cell lines, with IC values between 2.43 and 7.85 μM.
  • The study also employed techniques like single-crystal X-ray diffraction to analyze molecular structures and suggested that these complexes can intercalate with DNA, indicating potential mechanisms for their therapeutic effects.
