This review examines the cardiovascular risks associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), both traditional NSAIDs and cyclooxygenase-2 selective inhibitors (COXIBs). It describes the history of traditional NSAIDs and the development of COXIBs to explain why their cardiovascular side effects were unnoticed for many decades. Further, the review presents the mechanism of action of NSAIDs, to elucidate the possible underlying basis for why they are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the role of various factors contributing to growth retardation, including nutritional intake, disease duration, and treatment history, and further identify key risk factors that may influence growth outcomes in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Methods: Clinical data from 155 JIA children who were treated at our hospital between January 2019 and December 2022 were analyzed. The children were divided into the growth retardation group (n = 40) and the non-growth retardation group (n = 115) based on the height Z-score < -2 SD or not.

High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a widely used procedure for delaying knee arthroplasty, correcting alignment, and relieving symptoms in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Recently, proximal fibular osteotomy (PFO) has emerged as a less invasive and more cost-effective alternative. This study compares the outcomes of HTO and PFO to evaluate whether PFO can deliver results comparable to HTO in similar patient populations.
