The first comprehensive analysis of halogenated organic compounds (HOCs), including 209 full congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), 26 organochlorinated pesticides (OCPs), 41 polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and four other brominated flame retardants (BFRs), was performed on surface mangrove sediments from Bintan Island, Province of the Riau Archipelago, Indonesia. Among the measured HOC contaminants, the mean concentration of ∑PCBs (2.3±0.

A deep understanding of ammonia (NH) emissions from cropland can promote efficient crop production. To date, little is known about leaf NH emissions because of the lack of rapid detection methods. We developed a method for detecting leaf NH emissions based on portable NH sensors.

Pesticides often exist as complex mixtures in soil environments, yet the toxicity of these combinations has not been thoroughly investigated. In light of this, the current study aimed to assess the enzymatic activity and gene expression responses in the earthworm Eisenia fetida when exposed to a mixture of beta-cypermethrin (BCY) and triadimefon (TRI). The findings revealed that co-exposure to BCY and TRI triggered acute synergistic toxicity in E.

Urban environments are heavily influenced by various activities, leading to contamination of water sources by emerging contaminants (ECs). Among these, caffeine (CAF) and N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) are notable ECs frequently found in domestic sewage due to human activities. Despite extensive research on emerging contaminants, limited studies have focused on the seasonal variations, human health and ecological risks of CAF and DEET in urban groundwater, particularly in Indian cities.

Most studies on the docking of ivermectin on the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 concern the receptor binding domain (RBD) and, more precisely, the RBD interface recognized by the ACE2 receptor. The N-terminal domain (NTD), which controls the initial attachment of the virus to lipid raft gangliosides, has not received the attention it deserves. In this study, we combined molecular modeling and physicochemical approaches to analyze the mode of interaction of ivermectin with the interface of the NTD-facing lipid rafts of the host cell membrane.
