This study aimed to explore the diagnostic value of the two cytology techniques, including liquid-based cytology of mammary ductal lavage fluid and nipple discharge smear cytology, in the intraductal lesions in patients with pathological nipple discharge (PND). This retrospective analysis included 119 patients with PND who underwent surgical treatment. At the same time, they all underwent fiberoptic ductoscopy (FDS), nipple discharge smear cytology and liquid-based cytology of ductal lavage fluid before surgery.

Objective: Molecular testing for high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) genotypes is important for cervical cancer screening. In this study, we compared the HPV detection rates using real-time PCR in cervical samples collected using two different liquid-based cytology (LBC) kits.

Methods: Cervical swab specimens were prospectively collected using the SurePath and EASYPREP collection kits.

Rotifers are rare in cytology, particularly in liquid media. We describe a case of rotifer in liquid-based cytology of a 30-year-old nulliparous woman without comorbidities who complained of vaginal discharge and sought a cervical cancer prevention service with no noteworthy findings on gynecological examination.

Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) has long been recognized as a minimally invasive, cost-effective, and reliable diagnostic tool for breast lesions. However, with the advent of core-needle biopsy (CNB), the role of FNAC has diminished in some clinical settings. This review aims to re-evaluate the diagnostic value of FNAC in the current era, focusing on its complementary use alongside CNB, the adoption of new approaches such as the International Academy of Cytology Yokohama System, and the implementation of rapid on-site evaluation to reduce inadequate sample rates.

Ovarian cancer has a poor prognosis, and screening methods have not been established. Biomarkers based on molecular genetic characteristics must be identified to develop diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for all cancer types, particularly ovarian cancer. The present study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of genetic analysis of cervical and endometrial liquid-based cytology (LBC) specimens for detecting somatic mutations in patients with ovarian cancer.
