Background And Objective: Evidence on health economic outcomes for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) comparing different contemporary drug-eluting stents (DES) with each other is scarce, as most previous randomised DES trials did not assess such aspects. This prespecified health economic evaluation of the Comparison of Biodegradable Polymer and Durable Polymer Drug-Eluting Stents in an All Comers Population (BIO-RESORT) trial aimed to compare at 3-year follow-up both health effects and costs of PCI with one of three new-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) in patients with obstructive coronary artery disease.
Methods: The randomised BIO-RESORT trial assessed in 3514 patients the ultrathin-strut biodegradable polymer Orsiro sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) and very-thin-strut Synergy everolimus-eluting (EES) stent versus the thin-strut durable polymer Resolute Integrity zotarolimus-eluting stent (ZES).

Purpose: Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) is effective for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma; however, it awaits approval in Japan. This study aimed to simulate the cost-effectiveness of TARE over chemoembolization when TARE is approved in Japan and identify the requirements for cost-effectiveness.
Materials And Methods: A Markov model was constructed to analyze the costs and effectiveness associated with TARE and transarterial chemoembolization with drug-eluting beads (DEB-TACE) for 2-month cycles over 5 years.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is widely used in the field of medicine due to its biocompatibility, versatility, and cost-effectiveness. Three-dimensional (3D) printing or the systematic deposition of PLA in layers has enabled the fabrication of customized scaffolds for various biomedical and clinical applications. In tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, 3D-printed PLA has been mostly used to generate bone tissue scaffolds, typically in combination with different polymers and ceramics.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality and transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) is an established technique to treat patients with intermediate-stage HCC. The aim of this study was to generate accurate costing data on cTACE and DEB-TACE in an Australian setting and assess whether one of the procedures offers favourable cost-effectiveness.
Methods: Costing study using data from all TACE procedures performed at a single centre between January 2018 and December 2022.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD), exemplified by coronary artery disease (CAD), is a global health concern, escalating in prevalence and burden. The etiology of CAD is intricate, involving different risk factors. CVD remains a significant cause of mortality, driving the need for innovative interventions like percutaneous coronary intervention and vascular stents.
