Paprika and Jalapeño are used as vegetables and spices. We have obtained six new acyclic diterpene glycosides, called capsianosides XIII (2), XV (3), IX (4), XVI (5), X (6) and VIII (7) together with known capsianoside II (1) from the fruits of the Paprika and Jalapeño. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated by the (1)H- and (13)C-NMR spectra and two-dimensional NMR methods.

Phytol is a diterpene from the long-chain unsaturated acyclic alcohols, known for its diverse biological effects, including antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities. Present in essential oils, phytol is a promising candidate for various applications in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological sectors. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial and drug-potentiating effects of phytol against multidrug-resistant bacteria and to evaluate its properties: ADME and molecular docking.

Background: Geranyllinalool, a natural diterpenoid found in plants, has a floral and woody aroma, making it valuable in flavors and fragrances. Currently, its synthesis primarily depends on chemical methods, which are environmentally harmful and economically unsustainable. Microbial synthesis through metabolic engineering has shown potential for producing geranyllinalool.

Polyene cyclizations are among the most complex and challenging transformations in biology. In a single reaction step, multiple carbon-carbon bonds, ring systems and stereogenic centres are constituted from simple, acyclic precursors. Simultaneously achieving this kind of precise control over product distribution and stereochemistry poses a formidable task for chemists.

Phytochemical studies on plants have attracted considerable attention over the past few decades due to the structural diversities and significant biological activities of terpenoids produced by these plants. In the present study, five new acyclic diterpene lactone derivatives, aphanamixionolides A-E (1-5), and three known tirucallane-type triterpenes, namely, piscidinol A (6), hispidone (7), and bourjotinolone A (8), were isolated from the leaves of . Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive analyses of HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectroscopic data and by comparison with those reported in the literature.

Research on retinoid-based cancer prevention, spurred by the effects of vitamin A deficiency on gastric cancer and subsequent clinical studies on digestive tract cancer, unveils novel avenues for chemoprevention. Acyclic retinoids like 4,5-didehydrogeranylgeranoic acid (4,5-didehydroGGA) have emerged as potent agents against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), distinct from natural retinoids such as all- retinoic acid (ATRA). Mechanistic studies reveal GGA's unique induction of pyroptosis, a rapid cell death pathway, in HCC cells.
