With the use of 99mTc-labelled stannous pyrophosphate scans positive for myocardial infarction were obtained from 28 patients in the acute stage of the disease. In some cases the scan was positive when the initial electrocardiogram gave equivocal results. Negative scans were obtained from a control group of patients and from eight patients in hospital with chest pain but with no other evidence of recent myocardial infarction.

Introduction: The diagnosis of diabetic foot osteomyelitis is crucial and challenging for the proper management of diabetic foot. Tc labelled Ceftizoxime was used as a non-invasive diagnostic agent for diabetic foot osteomyelitis.
Methods: Ceftizoxime [CFT], a third generation cephalosporin, was used in a simple and direct method for the synthesis of TcO labelled infection imaging agent with stannous chloride as reducing agent.

The accessory spleen is a common congenital anomaly, typically asymptomatic and harmless to the patient. However, in some clinical cases, this anomaly beco-mes significant as it can be mistaken for a tumour or lymph node and be missed during a therapeutic splenectomy. There are nuclear medicine modalities which can be applied in the identification and localisation of an accessory spleen.

Stannous fluoride (SnF2) is a powerful reducing agent in 99mTc-labelled radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine procedures. SnF2 may enhance reactive oxidative species (ROS) in prokaryotic cells. Phytic acid (PA) is a wide-ranging regulator of many important cellular functions such as intracellular regulations of surface receptions channels and it is known to have antioxidant and chelating properties.

Radioembolization is used in diagnostic imaging of the lungs and for radioembolization therapy of hepatic tumours. Presently, 99mTc labelled macroaggregates or microspheres of human serum albumin (HAM) are used for this purpose. Poly lactic acid (PLA) is biodegradable, like HAM, and, unlike HAM, is not a blood product.

We report the development and validation of a 99mTc-labelling technique of bacteria, applied to Salmonella abortusovis. The radioactive labelling is obtained using a pre-tinning step of the cells followed by direct incubation of S. abortusovis suspension with 99mTc-pertechnetate.
