Introduction: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), an in vivo imaging tool for evaluating intraplaque neovascularisation (IPN), is an increasingly researched marker of susceptible atherosclerotic plaque. This study aims to assess the feasibility of quantifying carotid IPN using CEUS and to identify and characterise the neovascularisation in carotid plaques. The hospital's ethical committee approved the study, and the informed individual consent form of CEUS was obtained from all patients before the examination.

Background: Neovascularisation of carotid plaques contributes to their vulnerability. Current imaging methods such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) usually lack the required spatial resolution and quantification capability for precise neovessels identification. We aimed at quantifying plaque vascularisation with ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) and compared the results to histological analysis.

Purpose: There is still insufficient evidence for predicting stroke risk in patients with mild carotid atherosclerotic stenosis. This study aimed to explore the association between carotid intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) in mild stenosis and ischemic stroke, using contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imaging.
Methods: This retrospective observational study included 369 patients from July 2021 to March 2022.

Objective: To investigate the effect of zedoarondiol on neovascularization of atherosclerotic (AS) plaque by exosomes experiment.
Methods: ApoE mice were fed with high-fat diet to establish AS model and treated with high- and low-dose (10, 5 mg/kg daily) of zedoarondiol, respectively. After 14 weeks, the expressions of anti-angiogenic protein thrombospondin 1 (THBS-1) and its receptor CD36 in plaques, as well as platelet activation rate and exosome-derived miR-let-7a were detected.

We hypothesized that it might be also suited for detection of inflammation in atherosclerosis.
