Background/aim: Studies on large cross-arch bridges in patients with severe periodontitis show that such bridges can stabilize the periodontal condition. However, it is not known if these bridges will reduce long-term tooth loss and what factors are important for their long-term survival. The aim of the study was to study all patients with Stages III/IV periodontitis who received cross-arch bridges for up 35 years in a private practice.

Using intravascular catheter dressing audit data, we evaluated factors associated with noncompliant dressing. Male sex and gauze dressing had a higher risk of noncompliant dressing; presence of one or more lumens infusing, central venous catheter, peripherally inserted central catheters line, implantable port and contact precautions were associated with a lower risk of noncompliant dressing.

Background: Covered stent correction for a sinus venosus atrial septal defect (SVASD) was first performed in 2009. This innovative approach was initially viewed as experimental and was reserved for highly selected patients with unusual anatomic variants. In 2016, increasing numbers of procedures began to be performed, and in several centers, it is now offered as a standard of care option alongside surgical repair.
