Background: Gallstone disease is common in women. Many patients undergoing abdominal ultrasound for gynaecological diseases are found to have gallstones. This study was done to see the results of combined abdominal hysterectomy, mini-cholecystectomy and appendicectomy in a set up lacking facilities of laparoscopic surgery.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted in Ayub Teaching Hospital, Iltaf Hospital and Shahina Jamil Trust Hospital of Abbottabad from August 1998 to July 2004. All patients undergoing combined abdominal hysterectomy and mini-cholecystectomy were exclusively studied with reference to following variables. Age, Weight, Parity, Co-morbid conditions, peri-operative and post-operative complications, blood transfusion, hospital stay and mean extra time for mini-cholecystectomy and appendicectomy after abdominal hysterectomy.
Results: There were 25 patients in the study group. The ages ranged from 35-50 years. Mean weight was 65 Kg. There were no operative complications. Mild postoperative complications occurred in 7(28%) patients. Mean extra time for cholecystectomy was 25 minutes. Mean hospital stay was 9 days.
Conclusions: In selected women, combined abdominal hysterectomy, cholecystectomy and appendicectomy is a safe, feasible and cost effective procedure.

(AL), a prevalent nematode causing ascariasis, infects millions worldwide, with a higher risk in preschool and school-aged children. Though infections are usually mild, rare and life-threatening complications like gastrointestinal perforation exist. This article documents a case involving a 61-year-old deaf-mute man who presented with a month-long history of epigastric pain accompanied by nausea, anorexia, and constipation.

Background: Simple hepatic cysts are commonly detected in the general population, both solitary and associated with Adult Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD). Laparoscopic fenestration is a surgical option adopted as first-line treatment and to treat complications. The techniques reported in the literature are associated with cyst recurrence in up to 41% of cases.

Objective: The aim of this single-center case series is to demonstrate that an ultra-low dose (ULD) can be routinely achieved in the hybrid operating room in standard endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm by adjusting the manufacturer's predefined imaging parameters, hardware configurations and user protocols (including benchmarking).
Methods: The hybrid operating room manufacturer predefined EVAR software setup of the dose exposure control software (OPTIQ, Siemens Healthineers, Forchheim, Germany) at our university medical center was screened for possible improvements regarding radiation dose application. Tests on a water-equivalent as well as polymethyl methacrylate phantom model to assess the impact of technical settings were performed, including comparison of settings for exposure control software, different magnification, collimation configurations and detector distance.

This study evaluates the response of ground beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae) assemblage to forest management practices by integrating species composition, body traits, wing morphology and developmental instability. Traditional approaches that rely on averaged identity-based descriptors often overlook phenotypic plasticity and functional trait variability, potentially masking species-specific responses to environmental changes. To address this, we applied a three-layered analytical approach to address this gap, utilising ground beetle occurrence and morphological trait data from Podyjí National Park, Czech Republic.

To analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric myocardial infarction (MI) patients with coronary artery lesions (CAL) after Kawasaki disease (KD). Clinical data including baseline characteristics, KD and CAL information, clinical symptoms at MI onset, electrocardiogram (ECG) and imaging findings, MI treatment, and clinical outcomes of 41 MI patients with CAL after KD admitted to the Children's Hospital of Fudan University from January 2017 to August 2024 were analyzed retrospectively. (1) Demographic characteristics: a total of 41 patients were included (36 males and 5 females).
