African-Americans remain severely underrepresented in cancer control program delivery and research. Community-based organizational leaders and minority junior investigators have received little attention as representatives of target populations, or as agents to deliver and evaluate efforts to eliminate cancer health disparities. This paper describes activities of the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer II: Network Project, which has sought to address these issues. Community leaders and junior investigators received technical assistance (TA) and mentoring to develop applications for cancer education and community-based participatory research (CBPR) projects. TA was provided to 35 community leaders and 32 junior investigators. Twenty-nine community leaders won funding through the Community Partners for Cancer Education Program. Three pilot research applications were funded. Technical assistance may improve minority recruitment/retention in CBPR cancer control research and enhance understanding and elimination of cancer health disparities among African-Americans. The LIM-domain-only protein LMO2 interacts with LDB1 in context-dependent multiprotein complexes and plays key roles in erythropoiesis and T cell leukemogenesis, but whether they have any roles in B cells is unclear. Through a CRISPR/Cas9-based loss-of-function screening, we identified LMO2 and LDB1 as factors for class switch recombination (CSR) in murine B cells. LMO2 contributes to CSR at least in part by promoting end joining of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) and inhibiting end resection.

Introduction: Breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) is an efflux membrane transporter that controls the pharmacokinetics of a large number of drugs. Its activity may change when taking some endo- and exogenous substances, thus making it a link in drug interactions.
Aim: The aim of the study was to develop a methodology for testing drugs for belonging to BCRP substrates and inhibitors in vitro.

Although the addition of an ileostomy to low anterior resection (LAR) may often be considered preventative of anastomotic leakage (AL), evidence that clearly demonstrates such benefit is lacking. This study aimed to identify the impact of adding an ileostomy upon AL and organ-space surgical site infection (SSI) rates in patients with lower, middle, or upper rectal cancer. This case-control study included rectal cancer patients who had undergone elective LAR in the American College of Surgeons-National Surgical Quality Improvement Program dataset between 2016 and 2022.

Background: Differential DNA methylation in the promoter region of tumour suppressor genes leads to gene function silencing.
Materials And Methods: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the salivary promoter methylation of EDNRB, MGMT and TIMP3 genes in H&NC patients (n = 100), premalignant lesions patients (n = 25) and healthy controls (n = 50). Blood and saliva samples were collected from all three groups and 20 concomitant tumour tissues were collected from the H&NC patients.

Metastatic lateral pelvic lymph node (LPN) in rectal cancer has a significant clinical impact on the prognosis and treatment strategies. But there are still debates regarding prediction of lateral pelvic lymph node metastasis and its oncological impact. This review explores the evidence for predicting lateral pelvic lymph node metastasis and survival in locally advanced rectal cancer.
