We report an original optical method providing the probability of molecular ionization induced by femtosecond laser pulses. The approach consists of exploiting molecular alignment to extract reliable information about ionization. The cross defocusing technique implemented for this purpose reveals a sensitivity with respect to postpulse alignment, as well as to the free electron density induced by the ultrashort laser pulse. The analysis of the resulting signal thus gives access to absolute single-ionization probabilities calibrated through the degree of alignment, provided that free electrons are produced mainly by single ionization. The relevance of the method is assessed in N2.

Rationale: The complexation with dissolved organic matter (DOM) is a pivotal factor influencing transformations, transport, and bioavailability of mercury (Hg) in aquatic environments. However, identifying these complexes poses a significant challenge because of their low concentrations and the presence of coexisting ions.
Methods: In this study, mercury-dissolved organic matter (Hg-DOM) complexes were isolated through solid-phase extraction (SPE) from Hg-humic acid suspensions, and complexes were putatively identified using ultrahigh resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS).

In this study, the chemical components of Panacis Japonici Rhizoma extract and absorbed components in rats were identified by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole exactive orbitrap mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap-MS). The separation was performed by gradient elution on Waters UPLC BEH C_(18) column(2.1 mm×100 mm, 1.

Spatial metabolomics offers the combination of molecular identification and localization. As a tool for spatial metabolomics, mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) can provide detailed information on localization. However, molecular annotation with MSI is challenging due to the lack of separation prior to mass spectrometric analysis.

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a global animal pathogen. Traditional identification methods are time-consuming necessitating a more efficient approach. This study validated and enhanced the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technique by integration it with a lateral flow dipstick (LFD) assay for the detection of S.

Lipophilicity and acidity/basicity are fundamental physical properties that profoundly affect the compound's pharmacological activity, bioavailability, metabolism, and toxicity. Predicting lipophilicity, measured by (1-octanol-water distribution coefficient logarithm), and acidity/basicity, measured by (negative of acid ionization constant logarithm), is essential for early drug discovery success. However, the limited availability of experimental data and poor accuracy of standard and assessment methods for saturated fluorine-containing derivatives pose a significant challenge to achieving satisfactory results for this compound class.
